True, he could slide up to the 3rd line but I like having him in the 4th line center role, killing penalties and getting the chance to move up when players are out of the line up.
Any guys similar in FA? - Flyers2821
I prefer Talbot as a winger. He can perform the same exact duties he did last season, and still be on the third line.
Then look to sign a guy who is a better centerman (in terms of face-offs) that can also play on the PK. Guys like: McClement, Burish, Halpern and Nichol. |

Everyone wants to pay Ryan almost three million more than Voracek when Voracek, who is 2 years younger, could develop into a strong offense player in his own right. 50 points last year wasn't bad an I think he got better as the year wore on. We can have him cheaper and not have to lose any assets or him.
And again, offense WAS NOT an issue last year. - funmaster18
enough said. I just think for a 1.5 more, having ryan would be better |

Giroux is a step above, no doubt. But these are Getzlaf's assists totals for the last 5 years:
58
66
50
57
46
Giroux had a fantastic year last year and had 65. You are undervaluing Getzlaf. - canadianpenfan
Giroux had 65 in 77 games. When Getzlaf broke 60 he played the full 81.
I am not undervaluing Getzlaf at all, I am simply saying Giroux is a better playmaker than Getzlaf is and as a result Bobby Ryan would score more goals. |

Voracek was a markedly improved player at season's end. And you're exactly right, scoring was not a weakness by any stretch of the imagination. What was an issue was team defense. Bobby Ryan allegedly cut corners defensively, while I thought Voracek was pretty solid on that side of the puck. So, while Ryan is a talented and desirable talent, trading Voracek+ for him doesn't seem logical to me, not for this team. |

Why? Claude Giroux is such a good playmaker he turned Scott Hartnell into an All-Star over night. Getzlaf topped 60 assists once playing with two tremendous players.
I am taking nothing away from Getzlaf, but Claude Giroux is a better playmaker on the ice. |

It doesn't make sense at all. I think fans just want to see more moves because it's exciting. if Ryan was a free agent, sure look into it. But it's stupid to trade for something that isnt a need especially when it costs you 2 players and a pick. (allegedly) |

I am not saying anything about them as players. But they are not on Giroux's level when it comes to being a playmaker on the ice and creating scoring opportunities for line mates. They simply just are not. - Flyers2821
I agree but Getzlaf is a great passer. He got Perry the Rocket Richard. Ryan has topped out at 35 goals. I think that says something about how good he actually is. It's not like Rick Nash, who scored 30+ goals 7 times including two 40+ goal season (note: I am not advocating a Rick Nash trade) with no good playmaking center. Basically, Ryan isn't worth what Anaheim wants. |

Both nj and la have the talent up front that we are beginng to lack. If we stay put, fans won't be happy with what's on the ice. Right now we are asking for everyone to take on bigger roles and we don't know if guys like schenn, couturier and are voracek are ready. - Schenn2shine
are you serious?? These guys are not even 23 years old yet. They are only going to get better.

Hartnell credited his increase in production to being in better shape thanks to jager. Of course Giroux helped but no one seems to consider other factors. It's just all Giroux. |

Last time i checked i dont thing you can sign voracek @ 2.1.....i think he gets @ around 3.5. For 1.6 mill to have a proven sniper on the first line yeah i would do it. Voracek unfortunately is a pure playmaker not a sniper..... |

Think of all the trash talk he and G could do in practice over whose faceoff talents are superior. |

Sure he would be, but not with the addition of a top d-man and a first round pick. Then he is surely not better in the overall scheme in my humble opinion.

they've been here one year, passed the 100 point mark as a team, and just ran into team defense issues in the playoffs. Now the team isn't good enough? They will only get better. |

Hartnell owes some of his big season to Giroux's playmaking, but it wasn't like Clode turned lead into gold here. Hartnell has been the wingman on the Flyers' most potent scoring lines at least three times since joining the O&B (Carter's line in the 40 goal season, Briere's line in the 2010 playoffs, and last season with G and Jagr). |
