Shanny is the 2nd player to have the most 20goal season in a row (19), in addition he is the only player in NHL history to score 600+ goals and have 2000+ PIMs.

Not to mention, he won a King Clancy and has 3 Stanley Cup.

Shanny is the prime example of power forward.

Everything you say is true. But I'd still take Sakic (no brainer), Oates (second highest-scoring player of the 90s, with more total points and points per game during the decade than the likes of Sakic, Yzerman and Hull), and Sundin (16 consecutive seasons of .90 or more points per game) before I'd take Shanahan.

Bure is more of a tossup because of his injuries and holdout, but he was better at his peak than Shanahan was.

so they guy gets paid to run his own website and he is incapable of running a spell check or proof reading on the 2, MAYBE 3, posts a day he makes that are typically less than 200 words.

makes sense

- FourFeathers773

Spell check costs too much money nowadays for a business if it is not outsourced to India. Its the unfortunate effect of today's economy and rather than insult EK, why not console him?

The best pure passer I have ever seen. Consistent beyond belief. Best playmaker in his generation.

Greatest playmaker of his generation....uh....Wayne Gretzky? Mario Lemieux?

The best passer you have ever seen? Oates was among the best sure, but dude, lets not sensationalize too much, especially when you would have had to live in a cave not to see the above two.

It might be a fun fact, but Bure was a sensational player in his prime. Roenick was not in Bure's league. If the HHOF was about stats, how in the world did a third liner like Richard Duff ever make it?
- thepuckstopshere

And yet in their respective primes, Roenick outscored Bure.

Weird.

Again, any player will look amazing when you only consider their first 12 years, which will typically be their best by far.

The player who defined the scoring power center position and the best Leaf EVER. The all-time leading scorer of any original 6 franchise. Think about that!

You forgot about Bourque and Lafleur. He's still very deserving, but them passing over Shanny and Pat Burns is a joke.

ok?

its Toronto, he was a leaf, holds the leaf franchise record for all time points
his olympic and world champs teams could of finished in 20th place and he still would be in

In bizarro universe, where Sundin played for the Red Wings and Shanahan played for the Leafs, Shanahan has 0 cups and Sundin probably has at least a couple.

Blaming Sundin for never having won anything is silly. The man played at above .90 ppg for 16 straight years -- all but his rookie year and his final year. He led the Leafs in scoring every single season he played there.

His worst full, non-lockout-shortened point total with the Leafs in 12 seasons was 72 points. To put that in perspective, over the same stretch (1995-2008) the only other Leafs to score at least that many were Mogilny once (79), Thomas once (73) and Gilmour once (72).

The reason Sundin never won a Stanley Cup isn't because he isn't a "winner." He never won a Stanley Cup because it's a 30-team league and the Leafs had no one to play with him.

He needn't have won those international tournaments to get into the hall, this is true. But he's not in because of Toronto, he's in because of his being a dominant powerforward consistently for almost 20 years.
