To be honest I was really hoping they would draft this guy. Grigs and Forsberg kind of worry me with bust/underwhelm potential. I think this Rielly kid will be a good one. It would be nice to have a featured defenseman on Team Canada World Juniors for a change.

I think that the first 2 picks were good from a talent perspective. Who knows what positions we will need to fill when these guys develop. The Toninato pick was just strange though.

uhm... ALL players have to be taught defensively when they transition to the NHL

Rielly is already exceptionally smart in his own end and hardly makes any mistakes or turnovers, he's also positionally sound and has elite hockey IQ and puck skills.. Scouts compared him to Letang and Karlsson, now not saying he will be them, cuz he may and may not, but dont sit there and tell me you wouldnt want Letan or Karlsson on your team

Peddy I am not doubting what you are saying.. going forward I want the best for him.. but scouts always compare players to current or previous stars.. unfortunately who on the Leafs group of veterans is going to teach this young man how to defend against men... because let's face it.. the OHL is slower, smaller, and not as complicated as the NHL.. even the AHL can't compare.

It is not an easy transition.. especially for a small man.

Burke needs to avoid Gillis like the (frank)in' plague if this is actually the ballpark the asking price.

Burke just needs to be patient and Gillis will crack. At the very least, Burke waits it out and sees what the new CBA looks like and then decides.

Let Gillis squirm and have him focus on Luongo's bullsh!t all summer.
