I'm willing to give him a shot there if Burke can't acquire anyone. Why not? It's worth a shot....see what the kid can do with some real minutes and linemates. - Phenom
It's going to be a revolving door, that's for sure, because you can't count out Connolly having a contract year; then there's Colborne, who Burke mentioned in his conference call for JVR; finally, there's Bozak who's really been our default #1 center so there's no reason not to believe that's he's not going to be it.
Kadri, well, I'm having a hard time even seeing him in our top 9 without moving some bodies.
And on that note: who moves? Mac? Kulemin? Lupul? I could see Lupul moving for a quality center (maybe Stastny), but that's unlikely and not happening until November, once team's know what they have and we know what we've got going on at left wing (i.e. Parise is signed, doubtful, or Kadri is great out of camp). Mac's probably the most expendable because he's not a real defensively adept forward like Kulemin; also Kulemin has the lowest trade value right now, so moving him for peanuts isn't worthwhile when he's one of the few in our top 6 with true size and two-way ability.

Not as a centre on the top line that would be a mistake 2nd line winger is the place for him this year |

With Kadri's skill set, for me, it doesn't make sense to kep him on your 3rd line. It's waste of offensive talent, playmaking ability and vision. But he may still be green and not strong enough to handle it. Connolly..... Bozak is good....I think he's really good, but he's just not #1 center material. Colborne. There's something about him, and it could just be my observation, that tells me he'll never amount to anything in the NHL....at least not in a top-6 role anyway. I haven't seen enough upside out of him to change my mind.....Kadri at least has shown small instances of brilliance.
I don't agree with trading Lupul. The guy has been bounced around his whole career and he has finally found a spot where he's comfortable and can succeed. He's the type of player you win with......skilled, smart, hard-working, gritty, etc. I would hate to trade Kulemin at all, but if we had to trade him for a bonafide #1C, I'd do it....but you're right, his value may be very low right now. Although I'm sure some GMs know what he can really do, despite his off year, it would still be wise to hold onto him for now. He could end up being someone else's Lupul in a deal. Mac I think is expendable, especially now that we have JVR.

Game on, brohim. Kessel scores more regular season points than Ovechkin next year. $43.95. We can arrange payment upon completion of the bet, I assume between paypal, email money transfer, or paper mail we can work something out.

I have a funny feeling the Leafs will get Schultz, Crabb has seen his last day as a Leaf, Parros will sign with the Leafs, Toronto will have the tandem of Reimer and Scrivens, and wait for it......................
Parise will be a Leaf come September |
