Looking good at camp is one thing, translating it to the pros another.

If they look good enough to make the team in the preseason they will get 9 games to prove they belong.
In those 9 games though they have to play unreal, if they just play average they will get sent down in order to save a year on the ELC.

- HuileHab

All the kids who will play in Hamilton already have their contract (except maybe Pribyl who might sign this week), and whether they play in Montréal or in Hamilton won't change a damn thing, they will use a year on their ELC.

I think you need a different approach with every player. Some will benefit alot from spending some years in the AHL while others can make the jump straight from junior.....

The bolded is unacceptable I agree, if a young player makes the team, it should be in a role that is as close as possible as what you expect from him.

I disagree, some guys won't be wasting their time on a 3rd/4th line, because they have the assets and the type of game to play there.

You want your premier prospects to play the most though, whether it is in the AHL or in the NHL.

love that pick

I'm really surprised by Timmins. I got the feeling Gainey Gauthier were tempering with his picks, and made him wear the donkey hat.

Galchenyuk and Collberg were probably Bergevin's choices in the end...especially Collberg. Said he watched him play last winter back when he was working for Chicago, and when he came back from Europe he said he told his team that they should draft Collberg if he was still available in the first round.

- stinger67

Grant McCagg said at the middle of the year when he talked to him, that Collberg was Timmins' favourite player. Yes you can see the fingerprints of Bergevin on the pick, but it's not like Timmins didn't like him either

I'd gladly settle for one of the first 3.

QP can have the latter all to himself.

Mac and Barkov are the youngest, I think those two are miles ahead. I mean (frank). Barkov broke Crosby's record for youngest scorer at the WJC and MacKinnon had a good chance of making the tournie. Next year is still far away, but holy (frank) does it look like 2003.

Monahan is pretty mothe(frank)ing good too....

even without him it will be good. Emelin will be solid and Pateryn could end up a solid third-pairing guy.
- DoubleDown

Don't expect too much out of Pateryn, really slow.

Bennett though is really underrated. Best D for Michigan last year.

Leblanc, Desharnais...and possibly Dumont on the 4th line....that meets the quota
- Symba007

Could see St-Denis as a 7th/8th D too.

Habs seem very interested in Steve Ott.

After Hindle and Lebrun reporting it, Marc De Foy talked about it on TVA sports yesterday

Keep trying it. Mine died in the middle of the dessert in Texas and evenutally started, I just had a dead spot on the starter which eventually rotated out of the way

Already did. They don't pay enough anyways. There's a few highrises going up across the street I could make a killing on anyways.
