in 2010 when I went to the Olympics, someone I know was able to get me tickets for the Canada-US game (not the final, the preliminary round one).

so the wife and I head to the game, all decked out in our Canada jerseys, I'm holding this huge flag (cus I'm a dirty west-island anglo). We look at our tickets and we start heading to our seats. we couldn't find them so we ask an usher and he points us to this tiny side door.

we're all like wtf but we open to door and go up and don't we (frank)ing end up in the US family room like a pair of losers.

so the first person we notice is Miller's mom, easily identifiable becasue she was wearing an all-velvet track suit (navy blue) with "Miller-Time" written across her ass.

now there was confusion with the seating becasue they had too many people in the room and not enough seats so some peeps had to stand the whole time. (we were sitting behind Rafalski's family).

right before the game starts, we hear yelling from the side. some dude had stood too close to Ryan Miller's mom and she was (frank)ing wailing at him.

"YOU'RE NOT STANDING THERE BUDDY. YOU'RE NOT STANDING THERE I'M RYAN MILLER'S MON AND YOU'RE NOT GONNA BLOCK MY VIEW BECASUE I'M RYAN MILLER'S MOM AND NOBODY'S GONNA STOP ME FROM SEEING THIS GAME!!!!"

to which the guy answered "uh... ma'am you could have just asked me and I could move a foot to my right"

there was a lingering discomfort after that for a bit.


also, Tim Thomas' entire family are just Tim Thomases with different facial hair.




edit: it's really the velvet track suit that did it for me though.

I didn't think the Leafs had problems with their forwards scoring 40 points last year.

I thought their holes were in Net, at center and in the defensive zone.

But Schenn probably wouldn't reach his potential in Toronto, too bad that a 26 yr old Schenn is one of the things the leafs are missing.

So it's a wash and allows the leafs to trade something else for a more seasoned shutdown D.
