If a Leaf fan had said Schenn for JVR a week ago, what would you have said?

Truthfully.

I have been saying the Leafs should keep Schenn. In fact on the leafs blog during the draft when they drafted Morgan it was brought up that this meant the end of Schenn, i told them it would be tardigan to trade Schenn right now.

I have always thought JVR is overrated, and if he can't play center I don't see the point of that trade.

You're completely missing the point.

JVR is American. That's all you need to know in order to justify this move.

Shouldn't we expect all UFA's to test the market when they can?

That's why they need to sign Price long term now.

well he's 100-point potential at wing and 80-point potential at centre id say. so it's a tough call.

I guess it depends how the player feels about where he is currently playing, but yes, I'd probably want to see what obscene amount of money I could make as a UFA.

IRRELEVANT, judge the man by his pros NOT his CONS.
- braidan

Judge by both, the list of what he's brought in is far more impressive than the list of what he's sent out.

It's close enough to say it's a fair trade, but in a few years, I think Schenn will turn out to be the better acquisition than JVR, unless it's the other way around.

Schenn is a slow, #4 defenseman.

I'd rather take my chances with JVR.

He hasn't played center since junior.

Paavari in Edmonton has always had high potential, never amounted to anything

Should we trade PK for him?

JVR has proven alot more then Paavari so not really fair.

How about someone like Gagner he is 22 years old, averages 45 points and 70 games, if he was healthy and given top line minutes he has potential to hit 80 points.

PK for Gagner? Hell no.

Leaf fans were yes. Other teams fans thought it was a joke.
That's my point.

I'm happy with the deal as both teams were dealing from a position of strength.
It is debatable if the Leafs D is a strength but...you get the point.
