Sort of my point. Montreal wasn't going to give him the "lifetime" contract he wanted with that ridiculous first-year signing bonus.
- mcmanmat

i really don't think there's anything Montreal could have offered to get him here. but thats my opinion.

so, if he looks capable of competing at the NHL level, he should be sent back to junior because he missed last season? how does that make sense? the team will do what's best for his developement, which likely means he'll be back in Sarnia. but they won't send him back to the OHL solely because he missed last season.

Habs should look at how the Leafs managed Kadri and Schenn. They are a model at developing young players.

Doesn't it come off as a little childish to you?

Not at all. I'm surprised these situations don't happen more often.....brothers, friends, etc.

The guy with 6 games played last year?

Ya, he definitely should play in the NHL this season.

- Feeling Glucky?

I really doubt he will.

Depends on what he does at camp, probably will get his 9 games, but will go back to junior after. Bergevin said that if he's ready he will play, but he has seen a lot of prospect ruined because they were rushed in the NHL, and he'll do what is best for the kid.

Anyway, things will sort themselves out, Galchenyuk will be in the OHL next season because of the lockout

I know Crosby is a darn good player, but can't see him play with both Dupuis and Kennedy, they need another winger for him with Sullivan gone.

They also need a top4 D with Michalek now in PHX.

- QuebecPride

I really thought they'd trade Staal for Ryan or Nash.

Money. It's what he wanted. The colour of the jersey he would be required to wear was a distant second on his requirement-list.

They have a lot of cap space and not many needs.

They have the space to sign Both Suter and Parisé.

They are not in cap issues, but they are more into it than the Habs, hence the quotes.

Selanne and Kariya, there's been a few others I can think of. Point is I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often.

Staal for Ryan straight up would have been a fair deal.

agree on the cost but i think the numbers he would put up in Pittsburgh (as opposed to Montreal) would justify it.

I'm not sure. Paying their 2 1st centers like 1st centers > paying an AHLer like a 1st center.

pretty sure we were the only team offering Gionta anything close to $25 millions.
