Dude forget about those cap issues, we're fine.

If the (frank)ing pens can afford to sign Parisé, so can we.

We were supposed to have cap issues last year and still managed to sign Cole, while still purchasing Richards.

Hey---easy with the franking---Parise probably re-signs with New Jersey or goes to Minnesota. I dont think Pens are as in play as everyone thinks

I think we got as much as we possibly could, especially considering he said he would either stay and leave at FA or if traded would only sign an extension with the Canes. I'll take the 1st(Pouliot) and Brandon Sutter/Brian Dumoulin over nothing every time.
- HopintheCordoba

Pretty good trade for you guys. Just not sure Pouliot was the guy to get at #8. I know he's Morrow's partner in Portland, but a guy like Trouba would've been a better pick, you guys already have plenty of puck-movers with Letang, Després and Morrow, and Trouba is probably as good as Pouliot in the offensive zone, and is way better on D and in the physical play.

You guys have loads of D's coming up though now with the addition of Maata and Pouliot, could see one or two of them get traded for Nash.

The guy with 6 games played last year?

Ya, he definitely should play in the NHL this season.

Ahh.."pursuing" instead of "purchasing" changes the entire complexion of your initial post.

But I don't ever remember Montreal being in the running for Richards.

I can't see a scenario where Parise signs in Mtl.

I have nothing against the Pens, and if you hang out here, you'll see the F bombs flying everywhere.

Just meant that the Pens are more in 'cap issues' than the Habs, and could still afford the top UFAs this year.

well, chasing him and being in the running are 2 different things. and no one was in the running for him except New York.

I understand his will to play a bigger role on another team, but at the same time, he's leaving a potential cup contender for many years to come with 2 of the best players in the world for a team that misses the playoffs more often than not.

I dunno... it's kinda weird.

Sort of my point. Montreal wasn't going to give him the "lifetime" contract he wanted with that ridiculous first-year signing bonus.

so, if he looks capable of competing at the NHL level, he should be sent back to junior because he missed last season? how does that make sense? the team will do what's best for his developement, which likely means he'll be back in Sarnia. but they won't send him back to the OHL solely because he missed last season.

I know Crosby is a darn good player, but can't see him play with both Dupuis and Kennedy, they need another winger for him with Sullivan gone.

They also need a top4 D with Michalek now in PHX.
