I'm not doubting whether QC can take the team it's that if a guy is signing with Phoenix today he is believing he will play there this season. A guy signs in Phoenix to stay out of the spotlight but finds out a week later he's moving to QC, it could get messy.

I don't want the Habs to sign a D man for 4-5 years - actually, any player for 4-5 years, at this point.

I'd rather see a few short-term deals with mid-level players to plug holes for the next few years, see what our development brings to the NHL, and then assess where we need to spend $$ in a few years.
