Can't wait to see what happens over the next few days.

I'm not even sure what I want to see today. The few good players available either won't consider signing here or they're guys I don't think are the right fit which leaves us with the B players.

Last year, they got the guy I wanted in Cole, but for this year, I honestly expect to be let down a bit.

Nothing against Bergevin, but hopefully he will surprise me though.

Ray Whitney will be a free agent today. Shane Doan will listen to interest, but won't decide on leaving Phx until the 9th.

See DT, that's when I hate Gagnon.

http://www.lapresse.ca/de...-aux-folies-estivales.php

No one signs at noon. Atleast TSN finally figured that out having 14 hours of coverage was too much.

Well you can't really stop agents to talk to teams. Tender's probably has a player with Sens. There goes your theory, now try to prove it in court!
- QuebecPride

This is where the NBA has 1 thing over the NHL.

They have a 1 week period prior to signing players where any team can talk to any free agent.

Some people argue this lets players more effectively play teams against each other for bigger dollars (but with salary and term caps, not such an issue for big name players).

It also allows teams to step back from a bidding war to see who else might be available without panicking they will loose their initial target player (and hence, making a crazy offer).

I prefer this method than the free for all stupidity of NHL July 1st.

Surprise:

#NHL *News*-- The #FlaPanthers have taken their vet goaltender off the market by signing G.Scott Clemmensen to a 2yr/$2.4M contract.

By the way, July 9th is the earliest Jamison will know how close he is to Coyotes ownership.

So basically, if the Yotes are back in PHX he signs with them.

Phoenix is staying for another year I believe. I'm sure if they were leaving it would have be announced previous to the draft.

Well my issue lies with the fact that the highly talented players won't sign here or they have issues like Semin being taking nights off.

The talented players don't exactly have what we're looking for either unless a trade is made to get a bigger centre.

I really hate having 2 small guys on one line which means I even dislike Gionta playing with Plekanec.

The real top guys don't bring size either.

PA Parenteau is someone I really hope they don't sign. He'll want too much, he's not as big of a player as we need, and he's not a goal scorer which is what we need, and he'll likely end up not being worth his contract.

I would love Doan, he's what we need, but if he's waiting until next week to let Phoenix try to work something out with him, then I wouldn't want to wait for him and not get him.

Parise is very unlikely.

If we want a guy with size with 2nd line potential, Latendresse likely is the best bet.

I wouldn't mind Leblanc going back to Hamilton to continue his development and sign someone else for the 3rd line, even if it was taking a chance on Armstrong.

I always like the idea of having someone on the 3rd line who is kind of injury prone because then its a good line to insert a kid, and having the depth is great too.

Defense is the big question mark though. It's likely 2 5/6 guys needed with one having some offensive upside. Not sure who I want. I do like Allen though.

I have a feeling the NHL was staying in Phoenix regardless until after the new CBA was signed.

Helps the owners case.

Yup, better for the owners to get 50% of the purchase fee and relocation fee opposed to 43%.
