It was all part of a calculated plan/risk. Burke picked this kid because he had a deal worked out that would have brought Getzlaf to Toronto. But Burke wanted to wait to see if the fans would be happy losing Kadri in the deal. They weren't, so the deal didn't go down.

Don't give up on Kadri Ken, he's your lone sunlight offensively. Really talented, let him destroy the AHL before ruining him in the NHL. Burke has been really stupid with his case

No, my point is that people wouldn't trade him even if it brought in a legit #1C that the Leafs are in dire need of.
