So, TVA Sports says 6 or 7 years for Price @ 6.5?

Oh enough with the bullpoop taxes.
Get a good accountant and you'll see how much you can save in taxes.

The taxes argument is pure BS.

I'm not sure what you were expecting man, 6M is pretty much what everyone thought he'd cost. If you're drawing parallels with Quick's signature, then i'm pretty sure his contract is frontloaded. Price's contract wont be, hence the higher cap hit.

Its also his first UFA contract and he's a young star, of course he'll want to cash in. Just look at any other young UFA star player - they're always expensive.

Quick = Stanley Cup = 5.8M

Price = one game from winning the Cup beating the Cup champions in the 1st round = 6.5M

Oh, and Price isn't a UFA. Quick would have been next year.

And stop bullpoopting with potential and him being a star. Price has shown glimpses of being a very good goalie, but I have seen nothing in his play that would suggest he'd earn as much as Lundqvist and more than Quick.

We'll wait and see.

I just hope they don't sign him to a ridiculous 10 years contract. It's pretty dumb, especially for a goalie. Even one that just won the Stanley Cup.

Yes, but maybe in 7 years the cap will be at 100M and 5.8M will be peanuts.

5-5.5 is what I thought his cap hit would be. Still possible if the contract is front-loaded.

If the cap keeps going up $6 mil/yr like it did this year, that cap hit will be a steal in 2-3 years.

The value is inflated because a 6-7 year deal takes away a few UFA years. That is being acknowledged with the higher contract value.

It's a relief to know that TSN is so stocked with newsworthy events in sport that they have decided to RE-RUN the JVR/Schenn trade on their mainpage this morning.

EDIT: All the stories are old. WTF? *checks broswer cache*
