We all love Giroux, but Crosby and Malkin are head and shoulders above any other player in the league alone, not to mention how good they are when they're together on a line or on the PP. If any team in the Atlantic has a shot at Parise, it's the Pens.

Bill's break-down of the cap is another reason why I think either Coburn or Meszaros will be traded. We currently have 6 defenseman that are capable of being in the top 4, and another 3 capable of playing regular 3rd pairing minutes. IMO lilja, Bourdon, or Gus have to get that 6th man, and the other 7th.

While you guys might not like the idea of trading Meszaros and Voracek for Ryan, it would also save you 3 million in the long run in cap space, as opposed if you trade Read and Meszaros the cap hits would be a push.

However, regardless of if there is a bonus cushion or not, the Flyers will get Schenn's cap down to 1.7 or whatever it is when Schenn plays 1 game in the AHL next season. So no need to worry about that.

- RooNosHockey

So you think Schenn is going to be demoted to the AHL to start the Season?

So how does everyone feel about grabbing either Latendresse or Mueller over Jagr?
- mochoson

Could be a good gamble if he's got his head problems behind him for sure. Does Jagr want more money?

Voracek had a 2-way deal?
- Flyers2821

No, my mistake. But Voracek has been tendered a Qualifying Offer, so the FLyers have to account for that 2.25M on the Off Season Cap. As I can pretty much guarantee it is a one way offer.

This team is far from done making moves IMO. Like I said I think one of Coburn or Meszaros will be traded. Then if like Bill assumes Voracek, Bourdon, and Sestito are resigned then Bourdon and Sestito will either have to play on the team, be HS or got through waivers. And that still leaves us with too many forwards in regards to playing ability vs available ice time. I think it is time to consolidate some of our promising youth into top production players like a Nash or Ryan. Its not going to hurt to take guys that will be getting 3-4 line minutes and trading them for someone that can carry the load of the team, and leave the 3-4 line minutes to a shut down line. IMO

I don't know that there is a timetable for it. It's not likely that Voracek accepts the Q offer.

If there is no cushion, Yes, for 1 game. Just like they did last year. Cause then he can not reach the 25 minutes in every game and by the 2nd day of the season his cap hit goes down.

So the offer they gave Voracek was 2.25 mill? They offered him no raise?

I don't think Schultz wants to come here.
- flyersfan51

"Schultz is said to be looking to play closer to his home in West Kelowna, British Columbia, or with former Wisconsin teammates. The Rangers have two of them in Derek Stepan and Ryan McDonagh, which definitely puts them in the running.

The problem lies in the fact that under the CBA, no team can win Schultz over with money, as he has to sign an entry-level contract -- which was $925,000 this past year. So this decision will ultimately become the defenseman's. Beyond comfort, he is also seeking a chance at a big role and doesn't want to play for a team that will just assume he has to play in the minors. New York has a number of young defenseman who would figure to slot in higher in the depth chart, but it does have McDonagh as an example of one whom the organization is not afraid of throwing into a top pairing with a lot of responsibility. Plus, the Rangers have become an organization willing to give young players chances; in fact, coach John Tortorella can't say enough about the team's green players and continuing to give youth a chance.

Schultz's abilty, his age and future contract situation mean that there are countless teams trying to woo him. The Rangers are one, but the Red Wings, Flyers, Maple Leafs, Canucks, Oilers and Blackhawks are just some of the teams that have shown interest."

I see a lot of people hellbent on trading last year's Ashbee winner and one of our talented wingers (read/Voracek) who's point totals this year weren't far off from Ryan's, who is three years older than one, and 4 mill a year more than the other.

If trading a top-shelf defenseman for Ryan is so important (which it's not) then go find another defensemen before doing that. IF Ryan gets moved before you can do that oh well.

Does and ELC have to be 3 years? Can the Flyers not offer him a 1 year deal, and say we will pay you next year?

If you look on Cap Geek at the list of RFA for each team, the figure has been adjusted to their qualifying offer amount

Isnt there a rule that Ott and Cooke cant be on the same team. Just when I thought my hate couldnt be anymore.

That being said Id take Ott in a second. Great at faceoffs
