What do you think the pairings will be?
- stveshdy

Ha I don't know. I'd be interested to see Grossman/Mezzy together, though I have a feeling it'd be Schenn/Mezzy.

you?

EDIT:

What a good problem to have coming up with D pairings like these

To further add to that point, the Flyers could even put a team like this on the ice:

CAPGEEK.COM USER GENERATED ROSTER
My Custom Lineup
FORWARDS
Scott Hartnell ($4.200m) / Claude Giroux ($3.750m) / Bobby Ryan ($5.100m)
Zach Parise ($7.250m) / Danny Briere ($6.500m) / Brayden Schenn ($3.110m)
Wayne Simmonds ($1.750m) / Sean Couturier ($1.375m) / Matt Read ($0.900m)
Eric Wellwood ($0.580m) / Maxime Talbot ($1.750m) / Brandon Prust ($0.900m)
Zac Rinaldo ($0.544m) /
DEFENSEMEN
Kimmo Timonen ($6.333m) / Nicklas Grossmann ($3.500m)
Braydon Coburn ($4.500m) / Matt Carle ($4.750m)
Luke Schenn ($3.600m) / Adrian Aucoin ($1.500m)
Marc-Andre Bourdon ($0.900m) /
GOALTENDERS
Ilya Bryzgalov ($5.667m)
Martin Biron ($0.800m)
------
CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter)
(these totals are compiled without the bonus cushion)
SALARY CAP: $70,300,000; CAP PAYROLL: $69,259,444; BONUSES: $2,705,000
CAP SPACE (22-man roster): $1,040,556

Again, they have enough space and could be creative to virtually make any moves they want.

- Flyers1218

They have enough space for the Season. They couldn't make those moves in the Off Season without making substantial moves to remove salary and create Cap space. That was Bill's whole point. They then would be under the gun to get Cap compliant.

Bill, I completely get what you are saying and I appreciate the hard work you did crunching all those numbers.... that said:

They could theoretically sign a big name player if they were so inclined. There is more than enough room that they could make and bring back Carle and get a 4th line guy. And after they get ripped off for B. Ryan and trade Jake and Mezzy and 1st, who knows what could be available.

Give up, we aren't getting Parise.

Prust made $800,000 last year, hardly likely he only take a $100,000 raise. Expect him to at least double his salary.
- ob18

I think the rumor is he wants 6.6 million over 3 years at an AAV 2.2 million. Sather pretty much said good luck getting that, believe the Rags offered 4.2 million over 3 years AAV 1.4.

PA Parenteau has been discussed here for a few days. Here's an opinion from a former minor league player, current blogger, and son of Bob Bourne (played for the Isles).

Justin ‏@jtbourne As an Isles fan, I'm 0% afraid of losing PA Parenteau. Great guy, good player, had the perfect situation on Long Island. Replaceable.

I know Bill posted earlier that he had no interest in PAP, and I have to admit I'm leaning that way too.

I know you're referring to his offensive skills, but per Bill, he doesn't sound much like Jake...

I have little interest in Parenteau. Poor skater, poor defensively, and a step down from Jagr (even at age 40).
- bmeltzer

Jake is a great skater, and good defensively. And I think PA will be looking for a big raise, so if the choice is say, 2.75M for PA, or 3M for Jagr, I'd rather have Jagr by a long shot.

I have to agree. Right now we don't have an overly threatening top line without a sexy name like Jagr up front playing along side Giroux. I expect a name of some sort to end up in Philly and give Giroux the help he both needs and deserves.
