I was thinking $1.3 to $2.0 on the high end.

What would YOU pay? I think I would take him at 2 if the room was there.

I'd take him at $1.5 or under. Here he'd likely be 3rd probably 4th line not going to over pay for it.

I'm guessing at least 2 maybe 3.

What kind of season did Blake Kessel have this year? Didn't pay as much attention to the Phantoms this year (too busy taken care of a 2 yr old).

No we're getting Parise.

Penguins on July 1st sign him + and announce a 9 year 87 mill extension with Crosby. I just need to see how long the term is on Parise before I can guess on Letang's future.

1.5 tops. I wouldn't want to pay him more than Talbot.

I'd have no idea, I'm assuming all the Phantoms will have to put up better seasons.

This 87 crap with Crosby is kind of stupid. Loser.

He'd be 3rd here too. I would rather have Ott, might even stick him on Crosby's line. .

That would depend on the cost it would take to land him, not sure Dallas would sell low.

I wanted Bills' opinion on the cost earlier but he ignored me

I can only assume it's because of affiliation.

The Dallas Stars are open to trading Steve Ott, according to Pierre LeBrun. Ott's name also came up in trade rumors in the lead-up to the 2011-12 trade deadline. LeBrun specified that the Stars are still content to keep him if no one meets their asking price. Ott had 39 points and 156 penalty minutes in 74 games last season. Jun 25 - 1:42 PM

Ott's a nice player but the asking price could be high.

How much of that 87 million will the Pens be able to use as LTIR cap money?

Please explain to me how the heck Matt Cooke has a modified NTC. When did he become good enough to even warrant one?

He only has it because the other 29 teams in the league collectively decided they don't ever want him.

If he was released today he would be picked up tomorrow. Especially now that he's reformed.

Before Staal was traded, Cooke was 1/3 of the best 3rd line in hockey. With those credentials, a modified NTC is warranted.

are you estimating a carle salary for this number?
- Don'tForgetTocchet

Yes I am, but I just realized I made two mistakes in my copy/paste from the Capgeek page. Sorry about that.

They still show Carle at 3,427,500, and I intended to change it to 4,750,000 in my calculation, but forgot. I also just noticed that I somehow got Coburn's cap hit wrong too. Guess I shouldn't have tried to do all this while I was on a conference call (but it was a REALLY boring call...).

So the correct number is fairly higher than what most other teams are paying. Still not sure that makes me want to move somebody simply to dump the salary, but it is a significant difference.

The corrected numbers for each player and the total are:

Timonen, Kimmo »$6,333,333
Coburn, Braydon »$4,500,000
Meszaros, Andrej » $4,000,000
Schenn, Luke » $3,600,000
Grossmann, N. » $3,500,000
Carle, Matt » $4,750,000

Total $26,683,333

Again, sorry for the erroneous numbers in the earlier post.

I will be happy if the Flyers can re-sign Voracek @3M per. I think that figure is fairly conservative.

also look at nashville's number... that will change drastically and soon if they were to keep the same players
- Don'tForgetTocchet

Yes it could.

So could Detroit's (losing Lidstrom 6.2, but if they replace him with Suter at 7+ and add anyone else, theirs will go up too).
