We could use that this year. I expect the Flyers to score less goals this season. Hopefully they will give less up as well.

Not sure the Blue-Man look is going to get it done. He will have to clean up alittle for the interview.

with a healthy Grossman and the addition of L Schenn the flyers D should be much improved and I see B Schenn having a good year with his brother here and hopefully the big Bryz will have his head screwed on and work with the goalie coach. Read, Coots and Voracek will all be better so I see this flyer team with 6 more points than last year.

I am not trying to be a PITA but i thought the idea was to score more goals than the other team......so ......we should be more concerned w/ goal diff. than goals scored....it all relative....we could score 5 goals per game and give up 6

if we have better defenseman and better team defense we could win games 3-2.....over a season score less but win more....isn't that the idea.

I have problems all over with this post. First. We traded for 2 defensman at the deadline yes. Why? Because the guys we had were rookies. Now they have a year under thier belts. They also have added Grossmann and instead of having 2 rookies playing regularly and more if there was an injury, now you will only have 1 if there is an injury.

As for Ryan only scoring 8 more points. There is a big difference between someone that scores 15 more goals and someone that has the same amount of "points" Reason being... secondary assists. Ryan has had 30 or more goals in EVERY season he has played. That does not come along very often in players. Even our top paid player hasn't done that.

As for depleting our depth. We need to deplete our depth a little. Its starting to get over paid on defense, and while we have a lot of players that are up and coming and can contribute, it is a waist to pay them for limited minutes. It's like spreading butter too thin. I would rather use some of that depth that might not get enough time to play and use it on a guy that will be our #2 guy. Fill in the scoring depth to address the defensive need at forward.

Meszaros is a nice defenseman, but him and a late round pick IS WAY off base for Ryan. Meszaros was the most improved 2 years ago. He was not better then Pronger, or Timonen. And he had a slight herniated disc and floating bone chip. That is not a career ending injury.

Right now Ryan is a top line player and all-star in this league. He is still young enough that I can say I'm not sure he peaked, but even if he has and this is the best he gets, its still worth Voracek, and Meszaros if a 2nd or 3rd round pick comes back with him.

First of all a herniated disk ended my profession and while I'm not a proffessional athlete my job was very impact oriented to say the least.

Overpaying for defense? How do you figure this? Maybe when you look at Kimo's salary but he's int the last year and he's only 2/3's the player he was when we signed him. Furthermore you're completely overlooking the fact he might miss half the season with the surgeries he's getting. Defensemen are the most important part of your team's success, overpaying a little maybe. But with the injuries this team incurs in that area the added investment is worthwhile.

Ryan isn't worth Voracek+Mezaros/or any other top 4 defenseman + picks when scoring wasn't an issue with this team and team defense and injuries were AND Ryan is known to "cut corners" defensively see Randy Carlyle's doghouse.

You get a 4 bedroom 2 bath palace for the price of a VCR in Detroit. You can use the saving for Lexan windows.

IF the NHL had implemented the new playoff format, The Devils would not have made the playoffs.

I look at that team and wonder how the hell did they get that far. They have some nice players but I still would of never given them a chance to go to the cup.

Those numbers put him in another class. That kind of production is going to cost big money at some point (if he hits them).

I'm not concerned b/c I dont see him hitting those numbers (if he does thats great for the Flyers). Backstrom is an unbelieveable talent.
