I'm not off my rocker. I haven't said anything farfetched yet.

Gus and MAB have nothing more to gain from playing in the AHL, plain and simple.

- mochoson

I disagree. It would be better for both Gus and MAB to get regular playing time on the Phantoms than it would be for them to keep Shelley company in the Cote suite as the 7th d-man.

It's not a case of them having anything to prove. It's a case of keeping them game ready and continuing their development. That can't be done nearly as effectively if they aren't playing regularly.

In the case of MAB, he's no longer waiver exempt, so it is not likely he gets sent down due to the risk of his being claimed. That makes Gus, whether his play merits it or not, more likely to be sent down to the Phantoms if it works out that sending a d-man to Adirondack is what the team needs.

In that scenario, I would hope that the team would play MAB and sit Lilja, since Lilja is a seasoned vet whose game is not still developing the way MAB's is. Using either Gus or MAB as the 7 th d-man for anything but a game or two here and there is a mistake, imo, and will not help them develop.

I don't see him scoring 30 more points than he did this year. He may improve, but that is asking for a lot.
- Jimmygrazz

He's only 22. I'm talking down the road.

The most I'd personally deal is Jake, Meszy, and a 2nd for Ryan. Not dealing a 1st round pick in a deep class on top of those two players.

Guess we're out of the Weber sweepstakes this year. Hopefully he becomes a UFA next year when Timonen's money comes off the books.

Please stop making sense. This is the season to be lured by all the shiny possibilities of changing the roster. Thank you.

Sorry, this time of the year always sneaks up on me. Maybe next year I'll catch the spirit of the season

I wanna keep Carle. I think he's apart of this teams future.
- mochoson

Yeah. You just don't let talent like Carle (that wants to re-sign in Philly at a good AAV) walk for nothing in return. Sign him and ship someone else for good return if we have to. Jmo.

IMO, Homer tried to get Weber but failed because he wouldn't include Schenn or Couturier in any package, so he went out and got The Human Eraser instead.

Voracek could reach the 70-80 point pleateau in the near future IMO.

I liked what I saw.

- LordStanley88

I have seen inprovement in him too. Jagr taught him a lot IMO. But I doubt he will ever be considered a better player then Ryan.

Gus will be playing with the Phantoms to start the year unless he's traded. They will keep Bourdon and Lilja on the roster.

Next yea'r FA class is worth salivating over if it remains relatively the same come this time next year, even after discounting Crosby.

I know what you are saying. I don't see him in that point range though. He may max out at 65 points IMO.

No he won't, but that's because Ryan should develop into a 40+ goal scorer in the very near future.

I tend to agree. I was just trying to explain why that made sense, as opposed to making one of them the 7th d-man.

No need to overpay for Weber especially if he is about to become available next year (they can wait). Schenn and Couturier are players the Flyers are trying to build around (w/Giroux) so those guys aren't going anywhere.

A secondary assist is not worth the same weight as a goal. You say 8 less points... My question is how many of those assists were secondary assists. Goals have a lot more weight when your trying to compair a player by overall points....
- RooNosHockey

Why isn't it? Your telling me that a defenseman that breaks up a play, outlets the pass to a forward to set up a counterattack, or an odd man rush, that leads to that forward passing the puck to another forward for a goal, isn't worth the same weight? The whole play doesn't happen if not for the secondary assist. That's another one of the myths that you read on Hockeybuzz.

There is not a player on the Flyers roster that Flyers fans overrate more than Voracek.

I rather have a player playing in the AHL and working on his game then getting no action at all but thats me personally.

Give me a guy that scores 30 goals over a guy that gets 30 points every day of the week. Its one thing to get your stick on the puck when someone like Crosby is finishing it off for you. Shelly could get 30 points playing with Giroux.

If your talking about Gus, I would rather have him in the AHL too if Bourdon beats him out. Not only is he waiver exempt, the cap hit wouldnt apply.

I really think you are going to far with this. He is a Good player. He is not an 80 point player. I saw him take many games off this season.
