Still no Shero - BulliesPhan87
Thank you for pointing that out. It is unconscionable that someone that made as many contributions to hockey as Shero did has been snubbed AGAIN. This does nothing to put away the belief that his tough Flyers (which were not all that different from the "Big Bad Bruins" that preceded the "Broad Street Bullies" by just a few years in the league) ruined hockey in the eyes of some and are the reason why he is never going to the Hall. |

Well Pronger counts either way, no? In the off-season cap everyone counts I thought. So the 10% gives you 77.3 cap limit. What is the LTIR reserve allowance Bill referred to? The amount of cap space minus the cap-hit of the contract? Is that added on to the 77.3? - GirouxForTheShow
The Flyers basically can go over the Cap by Pronger's Cap hit for the Season. So basically the Flyers Upper Limit essentially becomes $75,221,429. But if your going to do that, remember to include Pronger.

Read Back MJL. I was posting in reference to how Joe was saying that Ryan only posted 8 more points then Voracek. THAT WAS WHAT MADE MY STATEMENT REVELENT. I'm not saying assists aren't important. Ryan is a much better hockey player, and just because Voracek managed to assit and secondary assist his point totals close to Ryans does not make them in the same ball park. PLEASE READ THE CONTEXT OF THE POSTS YOU ARE RESPONDING TO.
And I'm done. - RooNosHockey
I read exactly what you said. And I read the exact context of your post. And I disagree with that point. And in my opinion that is incorrect. Assists are just as important as the goal. It's all connected in the team game.
Here is the exact post of yours that I replied to. I was not replying to discuss who is a better player over Ryan or Voracek. But to offer my opinion on the below post.
"A secondary assist is not worth the same weight as a goal. You say 8 less points... My question is how many of those assists were secondary assists. Goals have a lot more weight when your trying to compair a player by overall points.... " |

That is on my mind as well. But most people are acting as if the Flyers need to make this blockbuster offer to get Ryan. I for one don't think his production will increase that dramatically coming here.
And I think all of the deals put forth weaken us. I don't want to trade a defenseman, or a first round pick. That is too much.
Anaheim is under the pressure here. They have the reported unhappy player. Why should the Flyers act as if they are the ones who are coming hat in hand?
Keep your top 4 d-man, keep Voracek who will continue to improve, and keep your first round pick. (Some have mentioned TWO first round picks!)
Ryan is NOT worth it.
Ill say it again, sign a big defensive forward, and possibly another bruiser for defense who will challenge for the 6th spot.
And as for Schultz, and him replacing Carle....
- MBFlyerfan
Ryan stinks. I wouldnt trade Bourdon for him straight up at this point. Hes a crybaby whos career is on the downslide. Stay in Anaheim you punk. |

I've never been threatened (by a mod, anyway) or banned, so I guess I am missing out. I imagine when one is reinstated they receive a message stating, "Welcome back! Please be sure to express how you feel about your experience on the very board where you instigated the infraction that caused your ban." |

Let's also remember WHO wrote the article. Ryan's responses to said article are less than endorsing.

Oh. Um... Ok. I say we trade Pronger's contract to a team trying to reach the cap floor and a #1 defenseman in case he is ever --
oh, Seravalli it, I can't do this. |

Funny how people are so concerned with their bans (and the reasoning behind them). Usually it's due to them acting like a schmutz, yet when they come back it's just more of the same.
Anyhow, no to Ryan, no to Nash, and no to anyone that will cost the team more than they're getting in return, or will be a detriment to what the Flyers need - team defense. We have enough defensive liabilities in the forward ranks as it is.
