Same was said about Gardiner last season...and apparently Schultz is better.

He now has one less D-man to beat as Schenn is gone.

Maybe seeing his friend make the squad makes it a realistic opportunity.

The Schenn deal makes me think that we've got Schultz in the bag... right after the draft Burke was talking with his agent, just shortly before the trade.

My gut says Toronto.

I think Toronto is the odds-on favorite too. He'd likely be paired with Gunnarsson or Phaneuf 5 on 5 and on the 1st or 2nd powerplay with Gardiner. Franson/Komi would be 5/6 pairing. PLENTY of ice time.

Burke is the most stubborn man, and considering he drafted him, I'd imagine he'll try hard for him.

He won't get minutes on the Rangers or in Vancouver, so you can scratch those 2 off the list.

Edmonton can be considered a serious destination... But who really willingly signs a contract to play in Edmonton?

thats the problem with our defense, when we play teams like boston/philly/LA etc, we're going to get out-muscled along the boards thus meaning the puck stays in our end 10 minutes per period

Hemsky is a washed up overpaid player.

I think the next move is for Stewart from STL and it will involve a D-Man... I'm hoping its not Franson but really think its a good possibility.

Listen here my friend, Matt finn and Rielly are going to need some time before they make the roster for the leafs. A good 2-3 years will do them good with percy in the mix as well since they are all young guys. Blacker on the other hand is reaching is peak point of being a potential starter, he may be very well on the go. That goes with gunner, franson and holzer as well. If we sign schultz, himself, gardiner, liles, and phaneuf are all guaranteed a spot since they will likely not be traded.

Gunner, Franson, Holzer, Blacker burke can use as trade bait to acquire guys like a chris stewart or a luongo or whoever he can bring in that will help us.

+ bonus... That can amount to a boatload of money. See: B. Schenn. He was sent to the minors last year so Philly would avoid having to pay performance based bonus.

Do you honestly think Gagner and Bozak's trade value is the same?

Personally I think Gagner has more upside and with the big 4 in Edmonton, I have a feeling that Gagner might get misused and eventually pissed off with playing second fiddle. Liles would provide some vet leadership and help on Edmonton's PP. It might help signing Schultz.

The only way he could be an even bigger genius than an absolute genius is if he put up the Leafs depth chart on defense with Schultz on the 1st pairing with Phaneuf.
