I kinda disagree. I think Franson has a pretty balanced skill set and can still be molded to play a necessary role. - As_I_See_It
molded yes.. he was off and on.. there were games when he played a very strong defensive game and then the very next game he would have his stick on the wrong side or he would be out of position, etc
that tells me he has the skill to become one.. but needs to find consistancy in his game
what i did notice was that both wilson and carlyle regularly benched him.. thats saying something. |

Yes. I think of our D (outside of Komi, but that's pretty futile), Franson's the most likely to be on the block.
He has a great shot, that's about it: if he had a mean streak and played up to his weight class, different story, but if Schultz is coming, we don't need a one-trick pony like Franson. - gravyface
he's just one of those guys that are full of potential, and shows you flashes, but then regresses.. reminds me of poni in a way |

Franson looked much better than Schenn last year. The only reason Franson sat more was that the Leafs did not want to sit one of their very rare 1st rounders too much. - GoneFullRetard
i agree with this.. and schenn's stock was still higher.. benching him would of destroyed any chance of the JVR trade.. remember.. they had been talking about it since the all star game is what Burke said.
I kind of wonder if there was instruction from above to the coaches to play schenn |

Did you know that Tim Thomas's home (Cave) in Colorado is called 'Centre of the Universe'?

i would think franson.. burke would keep liles to be a mentor i'd bet
and dont count on the amnesty clause.. how many teams have horrid contracts? minimal is the answer.. not everyone is huge spenders who regret the mistake.. why give the richer teams yet another advantage?
i would love it, but i dont see it going through - Dozzer
might be the players association that wants it as well. It would mean the players could take a big payday being bought out and then double dip by taking much cheaper contracts elsewhere. |

yeah, i suppose.. but what I think they would be after would be far more stringent rules when demoting veteran players on big contracts
it could go the opposite way here.. people dont mention that much |

well it seems like Vancouver are betting on signing this kid, letting go of Rome and not giving a qualifying offer for MA Gragnani.. |

Any idea who the Leafs qualified?
On D, Holzer and Franson are kinda obvious, but it looks to me that they'll have to bring back at least 1 of Fraser, Gysbers or Lashoff.
Kulemin and Fratts for the fwd's. Greg Scott is a wildcard, Mueller may have run his course, Greenop was a waste, Rosie may be brought back as the 13th fwd
I'd bring back both of Scrivens and Rynnas for the goalies.
As for our UFA's, I'd like to see Zigo, Crabb & Hamilton be brought back for the Marlies. Dupuis and Finger will walk and become very sought after UFA's on the open market...... |

that could be because of a potential deal involving Lu as well.

Disagree here.
I think Franson has a solid overall game. He definitely can't be blamed for being irresponsible in his own end. - Pen15
seriously? How many times did he just stand there while guys whacked away at the goalie? |
