This could have nothing to do with Schultz and more to do with his agent. Schultz could very well want to play for Anaheim, but his agent heard about the hype he was getting and decided it would be in THEIR financial interests to find out who will pay the most. Although everyone can only offer an entry level contract, signing bonuses and performance bonuses will vary depending on the team. This extra money will also go in the AGENTS pocket. - ILoveLamp
So jeopardize the kids Integrity, make him look bad, have Getzlaf and others come out and say this does not look good on him... for a few extra $$ on an entry level contract..

Btw, VAN asking for Bjugstad, first rounder and a good roster player. Makes no sense for FLA. - gravyface
pass, pass, paaaass. Toronto wouldnt even offer a frist rounder let alone a good roster player in addition!
I may want to ask for 200$ for the TV I bought 5 years ago for 225$...but my wife bought a new younger TV and although it still work great and has years left in it...its an older model.
Fair enough, I just think it's hilarious how quickly most Leafs fans (not all) flip-flop depending on their motives and agenda...
Schultz to T.O. = "He's amazing, he was born to be a Leaf!
Schultz elsewhere = "He's an unproven loser and a bust!"
L. Schenn in T.O. = "He's the next Adam Foote with elite shutdown potential!"
L. Schenn in PHI = "Always sucked, too slow, overrated!"
JvR in T.O. = "So much untapped potenital, Burke robbed the Flyers"
JvR in PHI = "He's an injury prone bust!"
Luongo in T.O. = "The Leafs will be so much better, a top 10 goalie, PLAYOFFS!!"
Luongo in VAN = "What a choke artist and a hack!"
Sundin in T.O. = "He's the greatest Leaf of ALL-TIME and a Hall of Famer!"
Sundin in VAN = "(frank) YOU MATS!"
Crazy. - As_I_See_It
actually, schenn is a potential foote type player-that is a fact...problem is, clutch and grab, slow footed defensemen are no longer a hot commodity in a much faster nhl.
....Foote actually found that one out himself.

Very clear now Gillis is a functioning alcoholic....... - Mr_Smokey
is that really functioning tho!?
its like the guy on kijiji who tells you he won a bike and wants to sell it to you for full price, even tho he has another bike and he dosnt need it...you offer him a fair price given the circumstance and he refuses. Gillis aint functioning....and Luongo is going to be something bitter sitting on the bench this year.

I've always been very clear that I thought Schenn sucked...
I'm just glad he's not going to be wearing blue and white this year.

5. Luongo might not prefer Toronto, but he knows it makes a lot of sense for everyone involved -- even him. Several reports indicated Luke Schenn was offered for the goalie, but think Canucks GM Mike Gillis countered by asking for Toronto's fifth-overall draft pick. The Maple Leafs and Canucks are playing a macho game right now, but things will eventually get serious. Hopefully soon.
If Burke really offered Schenn for Luongo, and Gillis didnt take it, both GMs should be fired.
