Peter Mueller was not qualified by the Avalanche so he enters the UFA markets…the perfect player who Detroit Toronto could grab and turn around.

If in fact u do get Schultz -what do you want for Franson then? - saskoil21
I don't envision Franson's value being too high on its own...would be better for the leafs in a bigger package with another good prospect for a Gagner-type of player. |

On Justin Schultz
If we go over how things went down.
Anaheim said they spoke to him and he couldnt wait to play for them.
"I don't know what the heck happened there. We were in Chicago and we still weren't playing great and I talked to the kid straight up and said we could use you right now on the big club. We won't send you to the Crunch, as soon as you're through with Wisconsin we'll get you down there on the ice. The kid looked me right in the eye and said I can't wait coach. It's what I've always wanted.
then something changed, if we assume no GM did anything "illegal" and tampered, what other logical explanation could come of it, other than he has talked to Gardiner and was convinced not to sign and play in Toronto.
It is possible that Schultz could change his mind as to what team he wants to sign with based on what the GMs are selling him.
I also dont buy the comment from other teams fans that there is no room for him in Toronto. Last season there was no room for Gardiner, but he played his way onto the team, and Franson and Komisarek sat. If he is a good player and NHL ready, all he has to do it earn a spot, and he will get his playing time no matter where he lands. |

Frans and 3rd for mps ? - The_Vark
MPS has speed and size- he had a decent rookie year and then fell in the sophmore slump... He just needs some more development time- I know he fell off alot of oiler fans fav lists but he likely will turn out to be a 2nd line fwd (high) or very solid 3rd liner IMO... seeing how we lack size I would like to keep him- anyone else TO may be interested in?? |

He signed with Newport Management group...that alone would explain it. Look at the poopshow they have planned for him tomorrow.

The leafs could trade for Vinny and take a decent prospect with him for say .. Komisarek ... the leafs could then buy out Vinny, then sign him to a more reasonable contract. They could do the same for Luongo .. that would only be 100mil .. - senstroll
It usually works that if you buy out a guy, you can't re-sign him.
But that is an interesting concept - Vinny and Stamkos for Komi?
Leafs then buy out Vinny, allowing Tampa to re-sign him at a reasonable rate.
It's essentially a trade of Komi and $37 million for Stamkos.
Let's get 'er done, Burkie!!!! |

Why would you sign with the Ducks, when you can sign with whomever you want? |

Why? As long as he was in the NCAA, he was not permitted by the eligibility rules to retain an agent. As soon as his eligibility was terminated, he signed an agent, and said agent probably looked at his situation found an opportunity to get Justin playing for the exact situation he wanted to be in. |

This. They found a loophole in the CBA, convince him to go UFA, parade the kid around, and cash in on a fat commission cheque. |

I'm not saying Toronto over Anaheim - I'm saying that his situation was this:
- sign with Anaheim, and go to their training camp in September; or
- wait a couple of weeks, field offers from 30 teams, pick the one you want, and then go to training camp in September.
Sorry, that's a no-brainer. There is absolutely no downside to going with the latter. |

Right... I understand that.
He told Anaheim he was going to play there, then changed his mind. So either he is a big fat liar head or something changed after that point.
So far we have Gardiner or his new Agency that helped change his mind. Or he is just a liar and was going to do that the whole time

He made promises to a team without the representation of an agent. His new agent probably told him that was foolish, and here we are. Anaheim should have known better than to try to deal with a player without an agent. They tried to pull a fast one themselves, and it backfired. |
