I say we take a shot at Peter Mueller on a cheap 1 year deal. Kid was 8th overall, can play center/wing, 6'2" 209, plenty of upside still at 24. - gravyface
Why on earth do you think this guy can help?
The Leafs already have 47 centres who can't contribute.
Do we really need another? |

Schultz could have signed as early as Monday. Monday and Tuesday he met with interested teams. Wed he will be fielding contract offers and later this week he will narrow his field. If all he is interested in is top 4 min then edm is a done deal. There r five teams realiscally. Tor, edm , van, det, nyr. If I had to pick a top 3 in order I would say edm, det, tor.
In some ways I hope edm gets him. I may never have to watch Poetry play again. Dude is pathetic. |

Crazy question for the day:
If there is a buy-out amnesty, who are the players most likely to be bought out?
And since they then become UFAs, are there any that could help the Leafs?
I'd take Vinny, but I doubt TB buys him out - that would be an awful lot of money.
He still has $55 million remaining on his contract.
Yikes. |

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think he can sign until July 1. |

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't Allaire a goalie coach for Luongo at some point? Could maybe factor in as well. Maybe someone already mentioned that. |

I think we'll see more of the Komisarek-types who only have a couple years left getting bought out over the long term deals. Cap space aside, there aren't too many teams that can afford to write off $40+ million in one swoop. That turns any profitable team to a major money loser. |

Just like I said: take a flyer on the guy on a cheap contract. He has way more upside at center than anything else we have. Put up like 53 points in his rookie year, then the concussions set him back. Could be a steal. I'd bury Connolly to make room for him, easily. |

The leafs could trade for Vinny and take a decent prospect with him for say .. Komisarek ... the leafs could then buy out Vinny, then sign him to a more reasonable contract. They could do the same for Luongo .. that would only be 100mil ..
