If you can't see the difference between Nilson, Cogliano and Gagner or Hall,Eberle,RNH and Yakupov it is time to invest some money in bifocals.

Hate to admit it, but me thinks the Flames will be looking up in the standings at the Oilers for a good part of the year. The Oil are a good coach away from moving past the Flames. A couple D and playoffs.
Calgary is a pulled groin ( Kipper )away from a lottery pick next year.

Love my Flames, but seriously, the last few years have been painful to watch. Boring, uninspired, low risk, low fun hockey is tough to shell out 175 per game for.

At least Sven should be fun to watch, but then again, they will probably waste him on the 4th line for the next 3 years. Maybe I will start watching more of the fun teams and leave the Calgary VS Minny, Columbus, Pheonix, Florida and St lou games to the hardcore hommies

I agree with this mostly, and would argue that some Flames fans try to have it both ways, correctly pointing out that ownership ties Feaster's hands when it comes to rebuilding while also saying he's a bad GM (despite him not having done all that much terrible). That said, this pick greatly lowers my confidence in him right now and I hope I'm proven wrong.

with the 14th overall pick, and then nothing until the 3rd round, you could argue that Feaster had a gamble either way. With less picks in the first three rounds, your odds are lesser than someone with two/three picks and he found somone he just had that gut feeling for in Jankowski.

Most say what he needed was a big impact center which could have been acquired with that 14th spot in Grigo....but even Grigo has a slight risk, albeit not as much as Jankowski. What he did was merely rolled the dice on a player he really liked, and at the same time got another player 10 picks down and grabbed a hard hitting defenseman.

Feaster seemingly went for the "go big or go home" and if this pays off, hell look real good, if it fails, he still got a kid in the 2nd round which he didnt have before. For me...it was a tad bit more risky than the club should have taken, but it gave them two picks in the first and 2nd rather than 1, and theres potential for Jankowski to be damn good.
