Rumor is that the "offer" Snow supposedly made to CBJ was contingent on Edmonton taking Murray and Nail falling to #2. Still, I think trading away an entire draft for one player is way too much, even for the top overall player unless that player is a generational player (like a healthy Sidney Crosby or Malkin or of that ilk).

As an Isles' fan, I'm pretty happy with the way draft weekend turned out for the team. Reinhart looks like a great selection and the Visnovsky trade will work out nicely. I have no complaints about any of the selections.

- Why didn't they make the same pitch to Edmonton for the #1? Edmonton probably would have been a lot more receptive to the idea of trading down for a d-man than Howson, who is a dumb-a$$.

That was a response to my twitter account and in trade tweets back and forth in the week before the draft and now after Dennis has always believed Parise was going somewhere other than MN. Last week it was confidently to detroit and then after the draft his view was pittsburgh. Thing is the MN Wild have never had a top tier free agent signing so there is no precedence and also the only people on the planet that know what Parise wants to do are himself and his agents. Being a Wild fan and a MN sports fan I truly believe that the Parise signing is the defining moment for the Wild as a franchise and never before has a top tier free agent had more reason to sign with the Wild than Parise has this July 1st.
