I dont think a team is signing him to play in the AHL. The favorite for his services is probably a team in Canada anyways.
- stveshdy

No, but if it turns out that he is not quite NHL ready, what then? If his contract says he cant be sent down, you are stuck, for the time being, with 3 plus million sitting in the press box. I'm just saying it is something that needs to be considered.

That being said, I really hope the Flyers sign him, but I also think that this "must be on an NHL roster" caveat will scare some teams away. Especially those close to the ceiling.

I agree with you Schenn and Coots are untouchable. However, I think they are going to bring in another winger for G and it won't be Jagr. I'm just not so sure who it will be. However, no later then July 2nd do I feel this mystery will be solved.

if the flyers were willing to take a bit of a chance, I'd think about Chris Stewart. don't know why his game has suffered in STL, but the ability is there...also friends w/ simmonds.

what do you think they'd want for him?

His chances of being ready and playing well must be high if teams are willing to spend that kind of money on an unknown. He may struggle at times but most rookie defenseman do, if he is the deal then you just got a steal imo.

I can't believe the islanders were gonna trade their whole draft for the number 2 pick crazy lol and howson rejected. If he don't get fired soon (especially how he is messing the whole Nash situation up) then that is crazy

That report seems alittle extreme but if true the Blue Jackets need all the possible players they can get at this point. Load up the farm. They are not winning the cup with what they have already imo.

If they wait for UFA, the guy with the best scoring talent is Semin. Yeah, I know about the reputation (I little bit overblown if you ask me), but the guy is a RH version of Gaborik. He'll probably cost less in years and average salary then Parise. Do I think the Flyers look at him? Doubtful. Do I think the Flyers want a new winger for G? Definitely.

I hope so. But wouldn't he also be worth it if he was ready two years from now? And I am not saying he is an unknown, he is a blue chip prospect. What IS unknown however, is how well he is playing at game 50, when he is well past the amount of games he has ever played during any season against players that are INFINITELY better than the competition he is used to.

You are ready to trade one of our proven NHL caliber defensman for the hope that this guy can fill in right now. 2 years from now he might very well be Karlsson. But right NOW, he is a kid who has never played a pro game.

And teams are lining up for his services because no one wants someone else to get a kid who may turn out to be a superstar down the line.

As per Ek's update.

Does anyone think the team ISN'T Detroit?

For the negotiating rights for Parise / Suter?

In other news, I really think that the other shoe is slipping of the proverbial foot for our Flyers.

I'm willing to live with the consequences. Thats part of being a GM taking risks and sometimes they work and sometimes they dont. I'm not asking the kid to be anything more than a third line pairing which I believe he will be capable of handling. The Flyers also have Bourdon, Gus, and Lilja in the fold. All three have experience playing at the NHL level. Doesn't even matter b/c the Flyers aren't getting Ryan and honestly I'm tired of defending myself for willing to trade a defenseman to acquire him. So I'm willing to move on at this point.

The shoe to drop? Just because I think Holmgren is too proactive.

I think he would prefer to form his team on his own terms, rather than have to make do with the remaining UFA's.

And I think it's Detroit because of their cap space and that I think they would risk the picks for player rights because it is after all the self-proclaimed HOCKEYTOWN and it seems like players would want to go there to me.

You sir could be right, but I think Homer has plans A through Z. He probably has stuff set up no matter what. He doesn't seem to panic. I love what he has done with this team.

Thats fine if they go to Detroit, just get away from the East. I wonder if Detroit would have to make any moves though afterwards. Id contact them about Franzen to kick the tires. Mule

Hi Bill,

1. You are assuming they carry Sesisto, Rinaldo and Shelley. If they sign another forward, someone must go. Also, I don't think they can carry all three similar players. Sestito or Shelley is in the minors.

2. Obviously you have Prongers included, but that will come off.

3. You are excluding the cap bonus cushion. Probably not a bad assumption but it might provide some cushion.

5. You have two backup d-man. Could start Bourdon in the minors if need be.

- TheGreat28

1. Correct. Shelley waivers would add $1.1 M of cap space. But they kept him on roster all of last season and I don't want to assume he'll be waived (though I think it could happen this time around).

2. I gave figures with/without Pronger LTIR figured.

3. Correct. Can't assume a bonus cushion until they bring one back.

4. Bourdon is subject to waivers. No longer on his ELC. Gus still has a year of waiver exemption, I believe.

Bill not sure if you answered this earlier but what type of return is Dallas looking for if they decide to trade Steve Ott?

Ek said that it's an eastern team... I assume he means eastern conference

I'd think he's talking about Pitt.

Oh, he actually changed it to say Eastern team; the original blog was worded differently and had some more about Luongo.

Soooooo. Anyone think it's not the Pens? And if it is; did they hire David Blaine to manage their cap? Imagine all that money tied up in Malkin, Crosby, Suter and Parise.

Reminds me of that fraud Laker team that lost to the Pistons.

(Sorry for the B-Ball reference, but I like all pro sports. I even watched the Frisbee Dog championship on ESPN this weekend at the gym. Truly amazing stuff.)

He did say Eastern Conference team which makes me thinks Ek is referring to Pittsburgh.

As I stated before, I truly believe Lou would not trade Parise's rights to someone in the same division as NJ. That doesn't mean Parise couldnt sign with PIT but I think Lou would rather trade his rights to a Minnesota or Detroit and get something back before ever trading the rights to PIT and help them out.

I meant it wouldn't be good for Parise and Suter if they went to the Isles. It was a joke...haha.
