I never thought he would leave but not being extended yet tells me there's a hangup with that contract or he wants to test the water.
- JoeRussomanno

I believe Phoenix doesnt want to give him the four years hes seeking. Those 35+ contracts stink.

it was going to hit him regardless of deflection....it was a minor deflection.

I have no idea how you could possibly know that.

I agree that carts was more skilled/talented. But I prefer heart over talent
- flyerscup2011

Nothing wrong with that. I think Carter plays with heart but he just isnt a physical player which many expect because of his size.

Guys...come on.

Who cares.

It was 2 years ago. Carter isn't even on the team anymore. Hell- if you count Philly, he's been on 3 different teams since then.

I'd rather see outlandish Bobby Ryan proposals.

On another note, in leight response to earlier G extension discussions...he's taken a home town discount already.

Maybe he'll take another and "only" take 7 per

Any idea why the Coaches play him 23-25 minutes a game if he gets beat over and over, and there is more bad plays then good plays?
- MJL

Why were coaches in Tampa giving Eminger top pairing minutes with Tampa when he was there? Sometimes a player is given a role above his ability out of need. It doesn't mean it was necessarily the management/coaches preference to do so. I don't think the plan is/was to have Matt Carle lead the team in TOI, so, this wasn't really a preference of the coach so much as a necessity given Pronger's condition, Timo and Mez being hurt/banged up.

Thus, the "coaches playing him 23-25 mins a game" isn't not really saying much more than the coaches trust Carle to get more minutes than the rookies and hobbled vets...which isn't saying all that much when you think about it. It's not an ideal situation to have Carle getting the most minutes on a team that has Cup aspirations. Maybe that's even part of the problem.

Appearing on ESPN Radio on Monday, Steve Nash acknowledged that, in regards to his free agent status, "[Money]’s still very important. I think money in many ways represents respect." Before making Nash sound too greedy, he did have some good points in saying that, "For example, if you sign with a team [you like] and take half or less money, six months later they trade you...It’s not everything but it is important and will be one of the factors involved.’’

Just thought this was interesting because we sometimes seem to think that players are greedy in pro sports.

So if the "rumored" deal was done, and you resign Carle for 5 (but heard 4.5) and Jagr for 3... and Voracek for 3.5. And counting Schenn at 3.1, then the total cap hit would be 68.87 and that includes our extras.

Take away 1.5 from Schenn, and 1.5 from the extra extras, and hope for the deal from Carle, and your talking 65.37 million. Almost 4 million in cap Space to get a decent d-man.

The Flyers can spend up to $77.03 million though over the summer.

I don't believe that Holmgren offered Mez, Read, and a 1st because if he did Anaheim would be dumb not to take it IMO.

Problem is the Flyers could of asked for more than Ryan back which is why they could still be discussing other players/trade options.

Money still carries the most weight, in my opinion.

Plus in those situations where a player "follows their heart" and takes "less" money, it's usually not that much less, ya know?? For example, if a contender offers you 7 mil per and a bottom 5 team offers you 8, who'd you take?

What's another 1 mill on top of the 7 you're already getting paid? I always said that....

Sather saw a Staal get traded so he probably jumped in with Staal+Dubinsky+Delzotto+Stepan+Anisimov+GIrardi+two first round picks.
