I like Carter. If we only traded one of the two last offseason I would keep Carter.

Not me I'd take Richards over carter every day of the week and twice on Sundays

That shot cost them the game.....shot it right into his chest. He makes the shot and who knows what happens game seven.....a shame he did that for someone else

That year was wild. We really had no business being in the Cup Finals. Just goes to show you that everything needs to go right to win a Cup.

Absolutely. You heard the same song with Carter that you hear with Carle. ALL of Carter's blocked shots turn into a odd man rush, or a goal against. Same with Carle's shots that are blocked. With all being emphasized.
- MJL

If Carle can eliminate say 10 turnovers a year, he'd be that much better. That's nothing out of the realm of possibility. Also how much of these turnover's are actually on him? I'd say 5-10 of them are due to him not being comfortable with his other Dman and then rookie forwards being out of position.

One thing he gets ragged on about that cracks me up is his "cupcake shot" and what is so funny is that shot has led to some nice rebounds which then in turn become big goals. Also his willingness to stay here for under-market value is rare trait in Athletes today and there's something to be said for that.

I'm sure you have your reasons why. Nothing wrong picking Richards over Carter. I just like Carter better.

His price tag could be higher than what you want to pay. I wouldn't mind adding Doan but I say lets meet in the middle at three years.
- stveshdy

If it's sub-four I can live with it. We paid 40 year old jagr 3 and 1/2 I don't see why something like 3.9 for 3/4 years would be so bad for a guy that fills a need for the immediate and foreseeable future. Hell give him a limited NTC too just to sweeten it. Every team can use a guy like him.

Not sure 3.9 gets it done. I agree he is an asset to add. He plays with a lot of heart and determination. Very good player. Imagine if he played with some talented forwards.

So if the "rumored" deal was done, and you resign Carle for 5 (but heard 4.5) and Jagr for 3... and Voracek for 3.5. And counting Schenn at 3.1, then the total cap hit would be 68.87 and that includes our extras.

Take away 1.5 from Schenn, and 1.5 from the extra extras, and hope for the deal from Carle, and your talking 65.37 million. Almost 4 million in cap Space to get a decent d-man.

Nothing against what you posted but I want nothing to do with Jagr anymore. The Flyers have younger players who will take on bigger roles next year. Would rather add a 4th line center who can win faceoffs and kill penalties with that Jagr money.

His last hit was 4.5 I can't see how an aging player with some however lightly, faded skills keeps his current pay or more. Yes if he was on a team like the Flyers, I can't see how he doesn't keep putting up 20+ a year.

I'm not a fan of Richards at all. Never liked his game much and thought he was highly overrated. Obviously hes a good player. Carter and Richards are both solid at both ends of the ice but I just think Carter was a more skilled an talented player.

The shot hit Niemi in the mask after being deflected by Campbell.

I never thought he would leave but not being extended yet tells me there's a hangup with that contract or he wants to test the water.

I agree that carts was more skilled/talented. But I prefer heart over talent
