I don't think I would have either. But in that case, I think Homer was factoring in need as much as the players themselves. And the real question becomes, do the Flyers need Schenn more than they need JVR?

I also think the the disparity in cap hits probably also factored in to the deal. I would have liked to have gotten at least a pick in the deal from Toronto. But TO was taking on more cap.....Not saying it is right or wrong...just sayin'.

I think Schenn will be good for us in the end by the way.

- MBFlyerfan

Schenn is a very young talented defenseman. He still has time to grow but he bring a physical game and blocks a ton of shots which will help out Bryzgalov.

So do you think a team values having a top 10 pick more than a top 20?

If you offer a 1st and Bourdon for Ryan then your living in a fantasy world. The computer on NHL 13 wont even accept that deal.

- stveshdy

I can't believe Anaheim would even answer the phone unless the conversation starts with Mezzy or more probably Coburn, then go from there.

We can't expect Murray to roll over like Homer did with the JvR trade.

You got a Top 10 pick. Completely different.
- stveshdy

How's it completely different? The Flyers have been able to draft top-shelf talent in the late first round. That's invaluable and therefore imperative they do not trade such a commodity for a luxury in lieu of a need.

I've seen a lot of overvalued trade options for Ryan. This is the first undervalued one (good job). But, who-knows... it may depends on the pick or picks... 1st next year and our 2nd the following, keep adding lower round picks until ANA says OK? Bourdon fills ANA short term need for a young defenseman - he is good, and will gain consistency, but probably won't get too much better. The picks are the long term insurance that the deal balances out.

thanks for the credit.....I think the pick will obviously be a lower round pick so we might have to throw in either another prospect or another pick. Maybe something like Bourdon/Wellwood a first and second..

This whole point comparison thing is crazy. What is the difference in goals? Wait I'll look it up so I'm not like others on this board.... okay Ryan has 13 more goals. That is a big difference IMO.

Oh and our return for Carter was an 8th overall pick, plus a former 8th overall pick. Ryan is more valuable then Carter IMO.

- RooNosHockey

Carter is the better overall player over Ryan.

Your right Joe. Top 10 pick is no different than picking at 22.

Then they can keep him. We don't need to fleece ourselves for something that isn't a necessity. Especially when in all likelihood we have players that are as equally gifted.

That seems to be the consensus, at least among Bill and a few others. One I happen to agree with as well.

Agreed, we have to stop acting as if Anaheim holds the power here. They do NOT.

Exactly. You want Ryan your going to have to pay for him. Hes a proven 30 goal scorer in this league. I'm not saying the Flyers need to make the move but his value is much better than what hes getting credit for imo.

Well Ryan is better and the answer to all our woes because he scored 30 goals three years in a row. Carter scored 40 then two consecutive 30 goal seasons and just helped a team win a cup. If Ryan is better he's gonna have to do more and Carter is going to have dwindle in the goal scoring department. He did this year, will he continue? I don't know and after watching him catch fire in the playoffs for a change I'd say no.

That's true. What is a fair offer that anaheim might accept for Ryan?

Anaheim doesnt have to trade Ryan either. The organization can meet with him and have a discussion about what direction they want to go. Nothing is set in stone which is why Ryan is still in Anaheim. There not going to just give him away.

SOURCE: #Flyers have offered Meszaros, Read, and a 1st round pick in 2013 to #Ducks for Bobby Ryan. So far, no deal. Talks ongoing.

Effing INSANE if this is even close to being true.

I can't gauge what other teams are going to offer. For the Flyers they shouldn't be offering more than high draft pick and Bourdon caliber player.

Really if that's the case see ya later, because they must have a higher offer and that price is way too high.

I don't really care because we shouldn't be trading for Ryan. But If I had to make an offer, Voracek, one of Bourdon/Gustaffson/Manning, and a 3rd or 4th round pick.

If they don't like it, it makes no difference to us. We still have our parts, and they still have the player asking for a trade.

However, I AM NOT trading them Mezzy or Coburn. And I am NOT giving them a first round pick.

G's going to be at least a $7m cap hit. Probably between $8-9m.
- NickTheKid87

Between Giroux's current salary $3.75, and Briere's salary $6.5 (if he retires)... We should be able to sign him.

Stamkos $7.5
Crosby $8.7
Malkin $8.7
