Second line is still a scoring line. No I wouldn't expect all of the players to repeat and match career high numbers. There is bound to be someone who slumps. Still doesn't mean that Voracek doesn't have scoring line ability. Or that he has zero finishing ability.
- MJL

You didn't answer my question, which was delibrately not pertaining to the topic, that way when you answer sques the debate in my favor.

BTW... Let me post that I originally said.

I'm sorry, but I see Voracek as a more gifted, more physical version of Ville Lieno. I think his top potental is a second line wing support player. He doesn't have the scoring ability to be a scoring winger, and I dont think he as the vision of a set up man like Oates or Giroux. So I would make him part of a deal for someone I believe who's potential is a top line scorer with all-star potantial.

I never said he wont play on a scoring line. I said he would be the SUPPORT winger NOT a scoring winger. And because SOME PEOPLE are thick as brick, I later posted that my 0 finishing ability was a sarcastic overstatement.

Giroux only makes 3.75?? He's going to get a huge raise.

He gets 5 mill in 2013, but the cap hit is only 3.75.

He got 9 more points last year than Jake did, and he wasn't playing on our top line all year. So 9 more points is worth Voracek+Coburn/mezaros+draft pick?
- JoeRussomanno

good point -- maybe Voracek/Bourdon and draft pick for Ryan.

Bill what do you think the asking price on Ott is?

The Dallas Stars are open to trading Steve Ott, according to Pierre LeBrun.
Ott's name also came up in trade rumors in the lead-up to the 2011-12 trade deadline. LeBrun specified that the Stars are still content to keep him if no one meets their asking price. Ott had 39 points and 156 penalty minutes in 74 games last season.

He won't reach that. I believe he will be locked up long term after next year. Once the new CBA is out, I wouldn't be surprised if he was locked up before 7/1 next year.

First round draft pick is too much and I don't know if 8 more points is worth 2 more million dollars. I just don't see the need to move a top 6 forward for another top six forward. We don't know what Voracek will look like playing with G because Jagr got to hog that spot up most of the year and you sure as hell aren't putting jag and jake on the same line, it's too much of one thing. Furthermore the likelihood of a player like Voracek being a 25-30 goal scorer is very high, don't think people realize that. What's Ryan really gonna give us? a dozen more goals? IS that worth all that when scoring isn't even an issue to begin with?

Maybe Bourdon and pick that's about as equal to a return as we got for Carter last year. Younger player +picks. If trading Voracek is that necessary then they aren't getting our top 4 d too and picks they can pound sand. If homer does this Voracek+Coburn/Mezy+draft pick for that guy he's dumb or Snider has a gun to his head.

Could be!!! I think I would kill if they did. Weber doesn't warrant Giroux in a deal. I mean, Giroux is as untouchable as it gets.

I have to agree with all that. We can still add another 20 goal scorer during FA and keep V. Hell, even if they did re-sign Jagr, this team is set. Our D is upgraded some. There is now a little more youth and potential to learn behind two great players on and off the ice(Kimmo and Pronger). Next year we will have a poop load of cap space also. Players will need new deals(Brayden, maybe G, Simmer). Our D will be still locked up for the most part. Team is set to succeed now and in the future. I want Ryan, but not at the expense of weakening the Defense.

true....I know anaheim is going to look for value.....I'd love to get Ryan for Bourdon and a pick but to me that's very undervalued......

This whole point comparison thing is crazy. What is the difference in goals? Wait I'll look it up so I'm not like others on this board.... okay Ryan has 13 more goals. That is a big difference IMO.

Oh and our return for Carter was an 8th overall pick, plus a former 8th overall pick. Ryan is more valuable then Carter IMO.
