From ESPN rumors...

Comeau's fate
8:40
AM ET
Blake Comeau | Flames
RECOMMEND0COMMENTS0EMAIL

It appears Blake Comeau will have to accept a pay-cut to remain with the Calgary Flames. By not tendering the restricted free agent a qualifying offer, the Calgary club has made it clear the $2.5 million price tag is too steep for a player who racked up all of 15 points in 2011-12.

However, according to Calgary Herald, the Flames remain interested in having Comeau stick around -- just for less money.

"We continue to be cautiously optimistic that we may be able to come to an agreement with Blake prior to him becoming a UFA," Flames GM Jay Feaster said Monday. "We would very much like to keep Blake."

Comeau's representation should realize the winger isn't in any position to command a rich salary, moving forward. Re-signing with a team that is willing to provide a regular role could be the better course of action over the gamble of testing the unrestricted free agent market.

#Isles will make an offer to UFA D Justin Schultz, who will start whittling down his choices tomorrow. Many clubs interested, obviously.

Hearing #Leafs and #Habs diminished their level of interest in the Bobby Ryan file due to asking price being too high.

It will lower down before July 1st, 2012.

He will want to trade him before all the top dogs spend all of their cap space.

Same goes for Luongo, and Nash.

No surprise. Proven NHLer with size, scoring ability and leadership that they don't have to move if they don't want to.

Bastards played a trick on the show host. It was his birthday.

I was on an appointment... I rushed back to my car to hear it.

Too good to be true...

Problem is every team is going to offer a 2 year ELC with maxed out monetary terms. It will come down to what city he wants to play in the most.

No, they don't. Imagine the sports business where everytime a player said OK, trade me, the organization actually did it. They're not going to lower their price on a player with the quality of Ryan who, they have under contract for another 3 years because of free angency looming.

The price will be high and rightfully so. If one team doesn't pay what they want another will.

All of a sudden The size of a defenseman doesnt matter?

Then why all the negative talk about Matt Dumba's size over the past several weeks?

Hypocrites. Monday morning quarterbacks. Armchair General Mangers. You know who you are.
