This is all starting to sound good.
This team will have a bright future.
I would love to see another #89 Sabres jersey.

another 89 jersey would be absolutely gorgeous

totally 100% agree with this but i think its easier said than done. the only way for it to work is to dump vanek...but do we think parise is THAT much better than vanek? i think its totally not worth it to dump vanek for him. we all know theyre not breaking up foligno ennis staff line....so it comes down to van being moved.

at the end of the day vanek has not reached full potential because hes never had a #1 center (and for those of you that will say brier or drury...spare me)

at this point i honestly (and sadly) think its in our best interest to just wait for these draft picks to grow and try to target another defeseman and a solid 4th liner that turns into a great role playe

ps how is ellis still in the NHL?..

- HAMgerber

One element that Parise has is leadership, also, he shows up every single night, and give his 100% effort.
Can you really say that about Vanek???

That's a very small sample size for Hodgson especially on a new team. If you're going to put him on the fourth line you might as well trade him. (which we shouldn't)
- sabrebuzz8

I think Hodgson becomes our #3 next year (after Roy gets shopped).

totally agree but at the end of the day it comes down to production

parise- 502 gp-410 pts
vanek 547 gp 447 pts

defensively they have very similar +/-

i think we all ride vanek too much for whatever reason

espn did a study this year that said that vanek has the best shot in the league...give him a legit #1 center and his production skyrockets.

only problem is the cost for a legit #1 center is too much

crap

Goal is to win the Stanley Cup. When is Vanek going to be healthy to produce in the playoffs?

IMO, if we could get Parise, I wouldn't have any problem trading Vanek away!!
It's time for change.

I don't see this happening but it could happen.

Parise Hodgson Vanek
Leino Grigorenko Pominville
Foligno Ennis Stafford
Gerbe McCormick Kaleta

Move Roy, and sign Parise to 7.5, then move Vanek to right wing. Roll 3 scoring lines, and a defensive line. With cap space of 4.3 mil. Will it happen? probably not. Could it happen? It could

Edit: with a Cap Ceiling of 70 million

Leino-Roy-Pominville
Foligno-Ennis-Stafford
Grigorenko-Hodgson-Vanek
Gerbe-McCormick-Kaleta/Tropp

That's how I would roll the lines if the roster stays the same. Leino played well with Roy and Pommer, Vanek looked fine at RW and that third line could be deadly.

Semin is the last player I'd want teaching Grigorenko...
- KINGTUFF17

What about Gonchar, after Malkin said at the awards that he wouldn't be where he is now without him, how would you like a Malkin on your team..... Scratch that I don't want a Malkin on your team

And really it all up to the original #89 if he says yes then he should wear it, if not, wear #90 and say he's 1 better the #89

Somehow, I got a feeling that we could get Parise to come play for us.
He wants to be the "MAN" on his team.
If we get rid of Vanek, then Parise will be the "MAN" on this team!!
Everyone thinks he is going to the Penguins to win a cup quickly(like last year?!)
How could he be the "MAN" in Pitt, behind Crosby and Malkin?
The only other team that he could go and be the "MAN" is Minnesota Wild.
