A guy I work with is from the Detroit area originally, so he's a huge Wings fan. I mentioned that I'd love to get Drew here for with Ryan, and he said no way in hell. They really like him out there. He instead suggested that we send Ryan to them so that the 2 can be together. I told him I don't want Howard.

Well whether we like it or not.. Drew is a UFA after this coming year.. and Ryan is after 2 more years.

Laich can play wing as well..

Robiro is gettin up there, he's a good guy to get, I was about to say they got him for character and leadership... but I hate his personality lol. He's dirty.

I'm really curious of why Washington acquired Ribeiro...

Now they have:

Backstrom 1C
Ribeiro 2C?
Laich 3C?
Johannson 4C? (he was their 1C when backstrom was hurt last year)

- JVince11

Laich will probably slot in on the wing in the top 6. He's more of a winger than a center anyway.

He's the type of guy we're missing in our bottom 6 at the moment. I like him, but I wouldn't be about to give up a bunch for him either. I don't like him that much. If he was a UFA now, I'd say they should go after him, but since he's not, it's not something I would really want to happen now.

I'd only worry about bringing in Drew if it makes Ryan stay on top of his game, although, as we found out when Goose was shipped off, less friends/distractions = better hockey.

Nope. I was not kidding. Howard is an average goalie. He's played with a very good team in front of him. They even make Joey MacDonald look good. I'll pass.

I could not agree with this more... I have been saying this for awhile now...

Detroit has one of the best D-minded teams in the NHL.. they make any goalie look great with their numbers usually...

Howard did have a 2.75 GAA in 2010-2011 season if I remember correctly.

I would want Nick Foligno more by a landslide...

Trade Roy back to his home city for Foligno and Konopka's rights and maybe a 3rd rounder.

I would do that deal every day of the week and twice on Sundays.

Detroit is good, no doubt, but Howard is well above average. He also has the benefit of costing a third of what Miller does. If he goes UFA and Miller is still roughing it, I'd make the swap in a second.

His 2.79 was his worst average by a landslide. EDIT: at least when he played more than 4 games.

There is no doubt that Howard is an above average goaltender.. but what makes him look closer to elite level is because of the team in front of him.

If it came down to next year and Miller who probably will not sign an extension especially at any cheaper cost than he is at now..

I would trade Miller for Howard in a heartbeat... age, salary, skill, win credentials, and attitude.

I watched a lot of Wings hockey this year, and he definitely makes the saves he needs to. I'll tell you this, at least... he almost never loses the game for the team. I'm not saying Miller doesn't keep us in it with a lesser team, but Howard can hold his own out there for sure.

are we the ones giving the 3rd.. ottawa really likes Folgino, i don't think they are gogin to give him and konopka for our out of favor center that hasn't played well in about 2 years

I think it's a coin toss right now between miller and howard

(tries to be objective)

When's the last time a player was traded for another's negotiating rights? It's usually just picks that go the other way.

They might be really high on their 3rd line winger Foligno.. but when their 2C is Turris and he had a grand slam 29 points this year...

They might be willing to listen about Roy coming home for motivation and him having previously scored what 70+ pts 2 or 3 times.
