Why wouldn't he?? To your point, he'd be surrounded by all that talent and get top pairing minutes, or at least top 4. - Domidives
Very doubtfull he cracks the top 4, but most likely would get a regular spot and lots of pp time.

cause nobody wants to live in Edmonton. It's cold, barren, and there's nothing to do. Everyone moves out or away because it's a cultural wasteland - ILoveLamp
but has a rather young and promising team.... |

I honestly don't think we have a chance at Parise, I can't see it happening. - LeafMan
Yup, Parise is going to a contender without question.

I think Lombardi would be a good fit on Phx, or NYI. They both use the rush for scoring and have the speed that would fit his game style. Same way J.Blake made a career for himself on the Isles. - ILoveLamp
His contract is uninsured if he goes down with a concussion.
No way in heck Phx or NYI take that risk. |

I think Minny is going to show up with a break the bank deal ...and battle with L.A., Jersey and Detroit. Kovalchuk type term and $$. - The Law
that's almost 47 mill for 6 years, thats huge
and he'd be only 33 when it's over
could sign another contract
what did Kovi get? 50 mill? |

Lombardi is uninsurable...he cant be traded, or likely will not be traded. - noename09
This gets brought up a lot. Is he the only player to have such a contract? |

just because I'm still confused by Edmonton's current line up and drafting style.
I'm sure we would all agree that you need skill AND SIZE in your top six. Every champion over the last decade has proven that. The Bruins are big up front, and so is LA.
Let's look at the difference
LA champion team top six
Kopitar 6'3 225 lbs
Brown 6'0 204 lbs
M. Richards 5'11 199 lbs
Carter 6'4 199 lbs
Williams 6'1 191 lbs
Penner 6'4 242 lbs
vs
EDM top 6
Hall 6'1 200 lbs
RNH 6'1 175 lbs
Yakupov 5'11 190 lbs
Eberle 5'11 184 lbs
Gagner 5'11 195 lbs
MPS 6'1 200 lbs
although 5'11 isn't that different than 6'1, it makes a huge difference on the ice. I have a feeling that EDM will be too small up front to be a major force in the future. Be interesting to see if they try and add size in their top 6 |

I thought he'd resign for sure, but now with a potential Phoenix type scenario, albeit not as bad, why bother when you can write your own ticket.

My father spent his entire career as a travelling salesman (musical instruments) all over NA.
He was mugged twice. Once in Chicago. Once in Edmonton.
To be fair, I don't remember too much of Edmonton. I spent most of my time in Ft. Saskatchewan. |
