Good Lord, please tell me it won't be another Brad Richards "come in and show me something BIG that I will like" show.

you'd think both would want to get things figured out ahead of time so they would know how much money they have in their wallets
- Barx

I agree with you......... they both need to have this settled by then for that reason. Also, Gillis needs to get Schneider signed before then to lock him up.

Word has it, that Schnedier won't sign anything till the Luongo matter is resolved. In other words, if Luongo isn't gone, then he won't sign a long term contract.

him and brown on either side, both with good speed and a reckless forecheck....

I'm thinking if Burke some how lands a couple of big UFA's (which I doubt he will) he puts taking on Luongo's salary on hold. Or at least he wants to see if he can improve his team elsewhere with just $$ and not assets.

Sounds like a solid plan, considering that's pretty much all there is on the market...

Yep, I saw the awesomeness of how people called him out on that.

Leafs are trying to trade Lombardi, they want a Yakupov-like prospect back...therefor that's what they'll get.

- Juice

Yeah it is pretty stupid to think that Gillis would do anything other than what he has done...

He has the whole off season to deal with this. He might as well try to make a "hockey trade", hoping a few teams are really interested and will bid against each other.

Why would he start by coming out and saying "We'll take a salary dump and a 2nd rounder".

Oh I thought he was interviewing agents in T.O. on Tuesday and then fielding offers on Wednesday ...

...in my blue n white brain that read as meeting with Don Meehan on Tuesday to formalize our agr't (which has informally been in place for months) then grabbin' a bite with Burkie and Non'ers to formalize my Leaf contract (which has informally been in place for months).

I will take a Prust or TooToo only if the dead weight is gone, I really want to see Kadri and Frattin full time this year first and foremost.

yeah, his agent will be meeting with teams tomorrow and fielding offers as soon as wednesday.
apparently he wants to be close to home or play with guys he's played with and play top 4 minutes.
NYR, Toronto, Edm, Van........
Leafs will have a shot though, and with the hole left by Schenn, he could step right into the line-up.

- Barx

Nonnis was meeting with Wade Arnott of Newport sports this past saturday at the draft. Newport sports represents Schultz. At the time I thought it was perhaps to discuss Tim Thomas who is also represented by Newport, but in fact it may have been to get a feel of how Schultz was thinking. Nonnis may have heard something he liked, and that may have triggered the JVR trade. Nonnis may have heard he was leaning Toronto's way.

Maybe........

I think it is safe to say, don't put a Leaf player's name on the back of the jersey.
- LeafMan

Or you could do what I do, bought a '67 Jersey, with 19 on it and put Henderson on the back, making it a classic throwback Jersey. How can anyone dispute Paul Henderson, who should be in the Hockey Hall Of Fame, when wearing a Leafs Jersey?
