The interesting thing about Crosby is that due to his injury history he is now much harder to insure. Normally if a player suffers a serious injury the insurance will cover 80% of the player's salary. This will not happen with Crosby. Pittsburgh will have to take a big financial risk if they want to keep him.

I follow him for the discussions mainly. I take rumors even from BobbyMac or Darren Dreger with a grain of salt sometimes, depending on what its about. Rumors are Rumors.

You realize that a "qualified" player CANNOT be OFFER SHEETED from ANYBODY. Schneider was "qualified" last wek. Sorry. KOmmisarek is NOT coming to Vancouver unless Kadri is too. The canucks want only picks or ahl bound prospects, no money coming back. Not 15 1st rounders, just a 2nd and a guy like McKegg. Florida HAS expressed interst but want the same as the leafs, for the nucks to take Theodore and a guy like Versteeg to even up the money.....Whoever takes the contract first gets a guy who will help their team win a divsion title (playoffs are another story but when you haven't sniffed the playoffs in eternity who cares what happens after you make it, just make it. Scrivens and Reimer will NOT get you there. Luongo in TDOT last year and they finish 2nd in the east, he is THAT DAMN good (regular season wise))
- RichardPeterNuss

I think you are confused between qualifying offers and salary arbitration.

as for the rest, whatever.

Sometimes it is a good idea to move a player from LW to C. Like last season when Cammalleri moved to the center he became a better player. If the Flames can't keep Jokinen I wouldn't be surprised to see Cammy as a center for the whole season.
- flamminghead

Pretty sure Cammy was drafted a C and started in LA as a C for a bit. Then was moved to the wing.

I didn't say that they don't, just that it's not likely that they do... Kessel would be the main playmaker on that line.
- Feeling Glucky?

who said he couldnt be... he had like 45 assists or soethign this year

Crosby. Maybe the Leafs can lure him over.
- flamminghead

Burke is already tampering on that one.

I like Kessel as a playmaker, don't get me wrong... but I'd much rather see another playmaker feeding Kessel the puck... 2 guys who're great at passing(playmaker + Kessel) and two guys who are great at scoring(Kessel+Lupul) would make for a really hard to shut-down line.

I like how your "location" conveniently includes the Canucks as a team that has won something. Fact is, if you haven't won a cup you haven't won anything. Sure, if you want to say if you haven't won a cup since post expansion then you haven't won anything, that makes sense, the Leafs haven't won a cup since expansion and that sucks. But guess what, niether have the Canucks, they've participatedin the finals yes, but in term of teams that haven't won since post expansion, they;re in the same miserable boat as the Leafs. If anyone is braggin about a participation ribbon, it's you, and you're right, it's very pathetic...

That being said, you're right about Lou, he's a great goalie and worth what you say he's worth, more in fact, but the contract/timing isn't great. If the Leafs get him they'll be much improved and probably be in the playoff mix.

Don't know where this stands now, but over #NHLdraft weekend I heard G Roberto Luongo to Chicago, if the #Blackhawks could make $$$ work.

Why is it unlikely that JVr would not have chemistry with Kessel?
JVR is a playmaker with speed and could very well be a perfect match.
I love the trade.
I think Schenn is over-rated, his ceiling is far lower and he's easily replaced.
If not by someone within the organization then via ufa.
If all you need is a 6-7 d-man who can throw a few hits and play a simple game, there are plenty each year as cheap ufa's
Tons of ufa dmen this year...Bryan Allen, Greg Zanon, Corey Sarich...etc, etc.

Why is everyone saying that Van is going to take Komi for lou straight up. Right now he is Mccabe without the slapshot. We want him gone for nothing. I can't see Van wanting Komi at all let alone for lou. Van may get a lower return than what lou is worth but they wont give him away. Van knows how much better leafs would be with him. Since this is Burkes contract year, I don't think its not too far of a stretch to say he needs lou more than Van needs him gone. If Komi is there its a salary dump from T.O and something with value must be included.

Pretty sure JVR is more of a goalscorer than playmaker, could be wrong though.

As for Schenn, you are drastically underrating him.

Maybe drastically underrating his potential, but certainly not the present.

Last year, he was not good enough to be in the NHL.

@MapleLeafs and Luongo looking less likely. Vancouver asking fair value for Lu, Burke insisting his contract lowers his value.

- mochoson

Dale the Wombat ‏@wombathockey
Trying to figure out what this supposed @MapleLeafs deal is about. Not believed to be as big as JVR deal.
