Don't be surprised if Islanders finish ahead of Buffalo this year. - VANTEL

I'd settle for just being in the hunt come January! I'd love it if they had that dramatic of a turnaround and got in, but I think it would take two, possibly three fairly big moves to make it happen...I do expect progress though. - UIF

just a guess.. they took quotes from that article and added quotes from interview after trade..
I fully expect all the wolfpack whining (Debbie Downers) on the other board will be retracted on here shortly. - niteislander
Happily, I liked the trade. Got admittedly scared when I heard the rumor. Now I'm estatic |

"Nabokov lost a year because he didn't think he was ready."
um, what? Why did he sign a contract with the Wings (I think?) if he "didn't think he was ready"?????
Great trade for the isles. By 2013, that pick should be in the teens (13-17th in the second) - muffin_man[/quote]
Lets hope so!. Gotta go back in the pool, enjoy the day gents |

Well I strongly feel that we would get a winger to replace Parentau and a top 20 defenseman. Who? God knows |

I love all the idiots... The reason these free agents did not sign here was 2 fold. One.. front end loaded contracts. if you want to give Erhoff 15 million upfront go right ahead. The Islanders in their current arena situation can not do that at this point.
2. The arena situation...political mess. It is almost over b/c their lease is almost done.
Those 2 points aside every and I mean EVERY hockey player that has played for the islanders wants to stay. Go right down the list.
Nabby.. did not want to come.. just re-upped
Guerin .. loved it here was upset when traded
Weight.. still here
JT- he supposedly hated it here and NEVER would sign a long term deal.. just did..
The point being.. that it is a Great place to live and no one wants to leave. It is only idiots and Trolls who have no clue that talk about how awful it is playing for the Islanders. Find me one player who was happy when he left.. 1.
I am guessing most people would prefer living on Long Island to friggin Buffalo.. just a guess. - niteislander

Saw more of the interview at the link IPB put up with its story. They talk specifically about the trade to the Islanders, but he says nothing but positive things about playing for the club:
Islanders certainly not leading the NHL club. Do not take it as a disappointment?
"Certainly not, want to reinforce the defense, so they took me. They have a team in a lot of clever young players and would like to strengthen. I have basically a veteran and want to get them there a bit steered. You never know what might happen in the NHL, after all, who is now expected that all the Kings win the league? I'm not disappointed. "
Have you even live in Edmonton Kalifornni. What gives you the feeling of New York?
"In the east, I have not played, now it will be the first time. My Family But we love California, but New York could be interesting. |

Because he told the Wings he wouldnt be ready till the playoffs... Which the Islanders didnt make.. so he lost that whole year.

I just want to see the talent spread out more in all sports. I'm tired of the same handful of teams getting the top talent every year like the Rangers and Philly. There is suppose to be Cap how are they doing it? The problem is there are not enough owners with the passion and stones to win just like our owner. They sit back and let a few owners run the show. While a team like Philly has not won the Cup in years they are still seen as a big time and popular team. I want that for the Islanders. - ses111
How well has that worked out for them? 1 cup between the 2 of them over the last 20 years

I read it 3 times after he said it was reported, just to try & find something offensive, maybe it was just a mistake.

Nothing wrong with it. Did the same thing . Well written and to the point with out being offensive. Definitely couldn't have written it like that myself! |
