First of all, you need to understand the IPB site....the beat writer is playing to HIS audience....those people hate everything the Islanders do, and everyone associated with the team. All they do is b*tch and moan about EVERYTHING. I used to go there to argue with them, now I just read it for a laugh. Let's start with this.....that was a Google translation into "pigeon English".....it's like the Bible....unless you can read Aramaic, you probably have no idea what it actually says. There are MANY NHL players considering the KHL this year- because if there's a lockout, they'd still like to be paid to play hockey....this is a non-issue, in my book.
Visnovsky doesn't have many years left to make REAL money- he's playing for what will probably be his last contract this year. He can play in Slovakia when he's 45, and still be better than everyone else in the league. I'm not too worried that he won't show up. |

I still think Witt can play. It was only in that system he couldn't. Heck Guerin did not fit into that system.. and he won the cup on Pitt. - niteislander
Witt skates like a truck backing into a loading dock...no one else has signed him, either. PS- this is why I don't want Komisarek......

anyone know where the list for rookie camp can be found?
by the way... rumor has it the Isles invited the Long Beach kid to try out for the team. Joey Diamond... don't be surprised if he is a Matt Mouslon like story. He is the kid who no one looked at b/c of size. He scored 2 goal in the blue and orange game last year.. and was the guy who seperated Petrov's shoulder with a hit in practice. He also was number 3 in goals in the NCAA last year for Maine... .Little does not mean Not tough.. He can flat out fly and score too.
I also see us getting making another big move to upgrade the back line... I really thing they should do free agency before draft b/c a lot of teams are waiting to see if they can sign one of those guys before giving up a bunch of prospects in a trade. |

I hear u.. I think Viz is our Komi type guy. He is making a lot less than his cap hit.. so I don't see us going after Komi. |

Visnovsky is better than Komisarek, for sure....in reality, I wouldn't mind Komisarek IF Toronto paid us to take him off their hands....

You cannot compare Visnovski to Komisarek....they are polar ends of the spectrum in terms of style. |

"Nabokov lost a year because he didn't think he was ready."
um, what? Why did he sign a contract with the Wings (I think?) if he "didn't think he was ready"?????
Great trade for the isles. By 2013, that pick should be in the teens (13-17th in the second) |

Depends on what the return is.....Burke, usually a good GM, has been in panic mode from the day he came to Toronto, because their fans haven't grasped the "salary cap" idea just yet.....which is the one thing I will credit to our neighbors in Manhattan ....they DO seem to get it. If we can get Komisarek and a first round pick for a fifth round pick, for example, you would have to do that....that's all I'm saying here. They'd have to make it VERY worth our while. The money isn't the issue- we're not coming anywhere near the cap....but the roster spot is a good argument. That said, you can always waive him.

According to Ek Ryan to Philly heating up. Can it not be the same teams making the big deals all the time? Can it be the Isles turn for once? |

I sometimes think Philly does things just for the hell of it, like we used to do when Dinglebury was our GM. They basically traded the Stanley Cup to LA. I wouldn't spend too much time wishing to emulate them.

I just want to see the talent spread out more in all sports. I'm tired of the same handful of teams getting the top talent every year like the Rangers and Philly. There is suppose to be Cap how are they doing it? The problem is there are not enough owners with the passion and stones to win just like our owner. They sit back and let a few owners run the show. While a team like Philly has not won the Cup in years they are still seen as a big time and popular team. I want that for the Islanders. |

Eh, there was a plan behind last offseason for the Flyers I think. Similar to when Milbury had to make a decision between some of the vets and Laviolette and he sided with the players, the Flyers had to make a decision between Carter/Richards and Lavy, and sided with Lavy. Maybe I'm wrong about that...didn't follow it all that closely, but that's how it appeared to me. Long-term, I think they made the right call. They got quite a haul for those players...tons of young talent...and they still have the good coach in Lavy.
I'm not so sure Philly wins the Cup this past season if they kept Carter and Richards anyway, and the tensions would have probably only grown worse. |

Couts> Carter add in voracek and you really think youd pass on that deal?
Schenn is overrated 3rd liner but Simmonds is awesome. |

I just don't see it. And yes Schenn is very overrated both the Schenns are. I think Philly was better before than now to be honest. Also I rather JVR then Luke Schenn. |

The bottom line is when Philly feels there is a problem they address it. All the moves may not work out the best but they do not just sit there and ignore the problems. They take action and they try to win. Good teams do not sit back and accept losing. |

Your right but that's the point. Just having a winning record is not enough for Philly.

carter and richards were known to be partying to much. And carter apparently slept with hartnell's wife or girlfriend. The two of them were becoming a distraction in the locker room, and the flyers went in another direction. Plus couturier is gonna be a beast soon. |
