Hmmm maybe the Oilers should've traded down to land a top 4 defenceman instead of now having all forwards be the stars.

It makes no sense to waste the ELCs of the now Big 4.

Nail made NO sense for Edmonton.

Just watched the Much Music Video Awards because my stupid teenager and b1tchwhore wife wanted to. They got all mad when I chanted "fagg0t" when Bieber came on and then started chanting for Katy Perry to show us her tits.
Bieber ended the riveting festivities performing in pants that looked like he had literally had a poop in them and were bright red. I can't remember the last time I laughed so hard.
In other news, I'm never allowed to watch awards shows with them ever again. Objective: complete.
Next time, I watch The Lorax with the little ones.

Gozer the Destructor destroys his own a-hole, and he allows us to eat the Marshmallow Man. Pilgor shows Dana Barrett his proton pack, and eventually he gets to Slimer.

You could be right, but Tamby said no significant offer was made for him to go to the management team to discuss. I don't know what were the offers or was EDM expecting a pot of gold. The question is also CBJ prob would have pick Murray, MTL was keen on Galchenyuk, NYI...would they have picked Yakupov or stuck with Reinhart? Burke is just on high stating Rielly was his 1st pick if he got 1st overall...so ANA would have maybe picked Yakupov? We don't know technically how far Yakupov may have fell if the other teams below EDM didn't pick him...which makes me wonder if EDM did trade down, could EDM picked up Yakupov too?!?

Maybe. But even if they didn't, and didn't receive a reasonable offer from a team for a top-4, they could still trade down and pick a D that could slot into the NHL right away.

Picking Nail was a greedy move and not very smart.

I know Tambellini has a history of not trading or doing anything, which annoys the crap out of me, but maybe he wasn't getting any buyers for UFA's like Omark and Peckham. Not many UFA's were moved that day and almost every team had one they didn't want to resign and would liked to have moved.

I really think they need to start trading away some of their prospects whether he has high potential or not but of coarse excluding the big 4, to acquire some high end talent on the blue line and in goal. It really bugs me that the Oilers don't do something to acquire a top player. Even ONE! They are more than aware of the situation but they are too scared to actually make a mistake and do something about it. They have more than enough prospects to add to a bigger trade.

A team like Chicago would probably love Hemsky, and Edmonton would love a guy like Hjalmarsson. Hemsky might not be enough for him but if they throw in one of their prospects, which they are SO scared to do, they could probably get him. Throwing in a prospect or draft pick or two are what make the difference makers. I understand they don't want to mess up by trading the wrong guy but not every single prospect is going to turn into an NHL caliber player. Seriously, do they think Marincin, Gernat, Musil, ect. are going to be Weber, Keith or Pietrangelo type players? They all have potential to be solid d-men one day but you can trade one, just ONE and use him in a deal to acquire a top end guy.

Drafting is a great way of getting organizational needed players since you can take players in which area you lack in the most, but it's not the only way. You can't just draft and expect all your problems to be solved even if Stu is one hell of a scout. It's hard to complain though when our team has been blessed enough with such talented players who could all one day become hall of famers, but we all know the management can do a little better...

No D that they could have got would be able to play in the NHL next year, the only one is Murray and he would only be playing 5-6 role. Yes we need D, but we need immediate D help, not a prospect, so drafting the best player available was the best option and gives us a piece that if needed to could be turned into a top 4 d man once he establishes himself

I would rather Enstrom personally! Enstrom is proven and a vet to teach the younger guys!
- undisputed_8821

Yeah but your not getting a proven guy like Enstrom for MPS and besides the fact that he could walk in a year his age does not exactly fit in with a youth movement.

Please.

If Hall / Nuge / Eberle / Nail evolve to become excellent players and fan favorites, do you see Tambo having the balls to move them?

U can call it what u like but We took the best player in the draft.
Maybe he makes someone else in the big 4 expendable. Maybe we deal him if need be when his value is even higher.

Its not like there are no other avenues to get a dman. And its not like we dont have any very promising d prospects already in the system.

Anyway, we'll see

If it needs to be done then yes, if one of them wants a stupid high contract then i dont see fans being upset, look at the smyth situation, im sure there was a time when no one thought he would get traded, or even whats his name.... Gretzky

Um everybody thought that:

1. Staal would sign an extension now
2. Staal would be traded.

Staal was never touching the ice this season without an extension, and when he put the brakes on a long term deal, EVERYONE knew he was getting traded.

Not what we wanted, but we knew it was needed for the good of the franchise.

Maybe Tambo should take notes.
