Seriously though, I find it funny an Avs fan is moaning about the Oilers receiving 1st overall picks... You do know your team used to be Quebec, right?

The only reason the Flames aren't rebuilding is due to all the NTC contracts they have...the Oilers are a lot closer to contending for the playoffs then most people realize..we re only a couple dmen away from where we need to be...unfortunately our GMs don't want to use the pieces we've accumulated to add what we need...I reserve judgment until the start of the season..this UFA period will go a long way to showing how good we ll be... Last off season we did more than I expected unfortunately it didn't get us anywhere...I still like the addition of Belanger...I think he helped us more than we give him credit for on the PK....

When the organizations goal is to get the first overall pick each year it pretty obvious they ain't winning anytime soon. Tambellini is a doorknob and has no idea what he's doing. Feaster is at least half sane and shows that he is committed to winning and believes in his team
- TheFactor

Uh-huh...we can tell the commitment to winning is there due to those near playoff appearances, terrible trades and poopty draft picks.

You sure you are describing his sane side?

Not quite true. Those moves are part of the move up in PP and PK ranking. Those also contributed to the 12 point increase from the previous 2 years. This team is already on the move up.

Now making a couple of moves this summer to help improve the back end will help the team to continue the trend up. Will it result in playoffs, i doubt it but I am optimistic that another 10+ point improve ment is more than possible.

Last year I was seeing the team as a 20th place team. They could have been too it was in reach. This year, right now I see them able to reach 10th in the conference, maybe 17-15th over all.

Exactly what I said in earlier post the Oilers need to offer up the 13 first rounder Plus for Yandle...if the management isn't willing to do that then we re in trouble....
- oilersrule05

Maybe its just the way u wrote it but it seems as though u got our pick as the centerpiece of a deal.

I think Phx is wanting a forward piece to help now..
Although the 13 first would most likely be part of the deal, it would be a secondary piece.

Not sure we even have anything that interests them.

The definition of insanity is trying the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

No one is saying feaster doesnt wanna win, but his strategy isnt working, and the same can be said for cgy mgmt before him. And now they're really fuked with an aging core and their best chance probably behind them.

As oiler fans we know this all too well. A decade of trades, signings etc to get us to the promised land. Sometimes squeaking in, sometimes not, but never real contenders. So theyve decided to try another route. Ie; pitts, LA, chi etc.

Theres no guarantee it'll work, but we're through the worst of it and getting sonewhere.
Cgy may have technically been a better team last year, but they certainly are no closer to winning a cup.

You forgot to mention how they ripped Burke off in the Phaneuf trade.

In another post I put that I'd offer up next years first rounder, Pajaarvi, and a defensive player or prospect...

I did like the addition of Belanger, at the same time, he won't be around forever. EDM needs to start pushing these kids to play more roles. Nuge, Hall, Eberle, Yakupov, PRV, Teemu, Lander, you name it, not all of them, but in order for EDM to win, they will have to learn PP, PK, 5-on-5, etc. Horcoff and Belanger is not the future and I rather see the kids get a chance on every situation on the ice to gain more experience even if this next year becomes another lottery draft. I don't want to see Horcoff, Jones, Belanger, Eager, Sutton, Peckham on the PP.

- hugefemale dog77

Where is Hagman now...Stajan is getting demoted to 4th line role, doesn't surprise me if he is buried in the AHL.

Ive always been vehemently against dealing prv because of his potential and one of the only skilled forwards with size we have.

But if its for a guy like yandle, i dont think we'd have much of a choice
