Rip leafs might as just fold, sup leafs here going to get merked by phili. We have no toughness, making one of our biggest rivals tougher, nice logic

Good trade for both sides. Both teams addressed needs, it made sense.

Also in my opinion shut down d men are eaislier acquired than power forwards. Just look at what BJs want for Nash. Also I do realize JVR is not as good as Nash.......yet

That's true, though I really liked Schenn's character. I always hoped the brothers would end up in toronto together leading the way, and not the other way around.

Ya he was a liability most nights and I spent way too much time defending him and saying he just needs to find his confidence.

Shoulda done Gagner for Schenn, would have adressed the needs better.

Schenn was our best shut down defenceman. Kinda like what Konstatinov was for you guys back in the 98 season.

What? He was benched, at times, for making mistakes in his own end. His skating was barely passable and for the money, he wasn't living up to a top 5 pick. JVR is one year older and provides this team with something that they lack, some size on the wing. He doesn't have to kill people on the forcheck, he just needs to get to the net and make it difficult for the other teams netminder. The Leafs top 6 were way too small and soft to boot. They were easily boxed out and couldn't do anything, down the stretch. Hopefully, a change of scenery for both players, makes this a good trade for both teams. It's not like we didn't have the depth. Korbinian Holzer should be able to take up the slack, as a tough grinding defenceman, on this team.

Put Schenn in Randy Carlyle's system you would see a different type of player. Wilson wanted a run and gun system, but did not have the right players for it,

Schenn's biggest problem seemed to be that he came into the season after spending the entire summer trying to bulk up and build strength. He was so god damn slow it was painful to watch. Doesn't really matter if you have the size to smash people if you can't even come close to keeping up with them. He'll probably fix that this summer and be better for it.

If we want better team defence, then we need to add some better backchecking forwards. Kessel was brutal. Maybe we need to rejig the lines, putting JVR on the second line, with Lupul and Grabovski. We then put Bozak, Kessel and Kulimen on the other top line. Kulimen is a much more responsible winger and could take up the defensive slack. Didn't that line play together, before Lupul arrived?

Leafs hired one of the top skating coaches, too.
