agreed. having reduced offense from the blue line hurt them this year (imo). letting carle walk isn't gonna make that any better unless something else is coming

Can someone explain how this deal makes 1 iota of sense? Flyers trade a top 6, powerforward with 30-goal potential for a defenseman who was scratched at times on a bad Leafs team? I know I'm posing 1 player in a good light and the other player in a bad light, but the fact remains that Schenn couldn't crack one of 6 spots at times on a bad Leafs team...

Schenn was scratched a bit this year because of poor foot speed, which was really killing him in Wilson's run-and-gun system. His skating was t as bad before, but took a hit after he spent all summer long building his upper body, and not focusing on skating. In the end, despite reduced minutes, worse foot-speed, and scratches, he still managed to be the most physical dman in the league, and saw his point totals increase again.


And is JVR really a powerforward?
