I don't think Brian Dumoulin is a throw-in at all, fwiw.
He's got a legitimate shot at being a star in the NHL. - Travis Yost
Its worth nothing. You love LBJ and now have to admit he's the best. |

Oscar Dansk... Final answer! We're top heavy on skilled forwards, and deep on D prospects. We only have 2 "ok" prospects in goal, so stealing a quality tender makes a ton of sense - sam89gagner
The Oilers actually need more forward prospects than defenseman. Keep in mind they have Teubert, Plante, Klefbom, Musil, Davidson, Fedun, Marincin, Gernat, and Simpson for prospect D. We might be able to add Justin Schultz's name to this list as well in a few days.
Prospect forwards of quality? Pitlick, Lander, Paajarvi, Rieder, Hamilton, Martindale, Hartikainen, Ewanyk, Pelss, Vandevelde and Tyrvainen. Oh, and of course, now, Yakupov
If you don't include Justin Schultz, the Oilers have by my estimation four defenseman who can turn into NHL players. Up front, also maybe four. Klefbom is the top prospect on the list. The Oilers absolutely need to add a quality forward prospect or two on Saturday, especially if they end up moving some pieces to acquire a "right now" defenseman. |

I want Dansk or Frk at 32. I just really wanna buy a jersey with the last name having all consonants, although with me now having to buy a Yakupov jersey that's gonna get costly..... - BarDownBobo
Matt Finn or Martin Frk. D or nasty. |

Was there a different draft I wasn't aware of? Because the one I watched showed the Penguins giving away Jordan Staal. One of the Top 10 centers in the NHL, if you believe people who comment on my blogs. - Maxbone
I think Shero did a good job of acquiring assets for a player that had no intention of re-signing with them. He's a four million dollar third line center on the Pens. They acquired a big 23 yr old former 11th overall pick, hard working, 20 goal potential, third line center for half the cap hit and extended years of service. Which is exactly what they need! Plus Shero got an 8th overall pick, nothing to dismiss at this point!!! |

I just think the Penguins could have received a better immediate player than Brandon Sutter. |

enough about Martindale already. i wouldnt call guys like Pelss, Vandevelde, Tyrvainen and Simpson quality either, they'll be fortunate to get a regular NHL gig.
but enough about Martindale. unless something major happens he's plummeted faster than laughs in an Athens bathhouse. |

it was a great return for 1 year of Staal. Carolina must be pretty sure they can re-up him. |

The guy has a tough 1st year of pro, and we're suppose to completely give up on him, I guess. |

With Toronto grabbing Rielly with their pick, do you think that puts maybe a seed of doubt in Schultz's mind about signing with TO? I mean, that's another smooth skating, puck-moving d-man being added to a roster chock full of them. |

Actually, I think the pick was an admission by Toronto that Schultz has made up his mind, and it isn't them.
I can't help but wonder if Burke knows he was caught tampering, and had to back off because of it. It looks more and more likely to me that Schultz will be signing with the Oilers. The lack of a big trade to acquire a D man on Friday suggests Oilers management are not willing to give up quality prospects to bring in a top pairing player. Hemsky is definitely available, and the Oilers could move draft picks and other less-impressive prospects to bring in someone.
My belief is, the Oilers are prepared to go forth with Petry, Smid, Whitney, J. Schultz, and Nick Schultz as their first five. The 6th will be dealt for...and if no one can be acquired, they could go with Sutton, Potter, Teubert or Peckham in the #6 role. I've been insisting for a while now that the Oilers won't be a playoff team in 2012/2013, mainly because management is not prepared to move out assets like Paajarvi or Hartikainen in order to make a big deal.
With teams like the Penguins being hella deep with quality D prospects, you never know...a huge deal could occur. Yandle is still available, from what I hear. |

But, if Bob Clarke can forget his name while drafting him, I guess I can't kill an Isles fan for doing the same. |

I was surprised that Gaunce was available to Vancouver where he was. I thought for sure that all three of the teams before the Canucks wouldn't pass him up.
If the Canucks can get Tim Bozon tomorrow I'll be relatively happy with their picks this weekend. |

You're drunk Clouts.
Glad to see Murray was just a media grab the whole time (really, it was always Yaks). Hope they get Thrower, but seriously between Bystrom, Collberg, Scissons, Thrower, Kerdiles, Aberg, and Dansk. Still a quality prospect to be had.
Also for the Leafs, I was hoping for Trouba myself, but Reilly was the "Galchenyuk" of the Defensemen. He has the highest ceiling, his combine results were at the very top, and is the best skater in this draft. After Galy is gone Burke went into BPA mode. |

I'll take Sutter over Gagner. The Penguins probably wouldn't have gotten Pouliot at 15 seeing how they didn't pick until 22. |
