I actually liked the Staal deal from the Pens perspective. I think the 'Canes gave up too much for him probably just because they can sell more tickets by promoting those two brothers.

The Pens did a fantastic job of replacing that role for guy who would have left for nothing and widely known he wanted to play with his brother.
To my mind - it could have been a straight across without the 8th pick but they got that as well.

Good deal for both teams.

Pitt: fully proactive - clearing space, they'll be in the mix on Yandle/ Suter, anyone they want really. They keep on rolling.
