Carlyle is a coach who is defence first. We have an amazing group of D with an EXCELLENT cupboard of D. If you wanna complain than shutup and go to a bar. Be happy we drafted an elite offensive dman and not a MAYBE 1C in Grigorenko or Faksa.

It is not that I think that it is a bad pick. I am sure he is quite an impact player.

What I am sick of is the Leafs just doing nothing to noticeably iimprove themselves. I saw a lot of teams making a lot of good picks to address their needs and strengthen themselves... but not Toronto.

Schenn is 22 years old for (frank) sakes and has been playing under Rotten Ronny's disfunctional "offensive" systems. You don't think that as "a shut down d-man" that Schenn won't thrive under Carlyle's defensive systems and focus? FYI, Carlyle won a Norris and knows a few things about defensive and Schenn should stand to benefit from that!

Furthermore, it is widely known that d-man take a little longer to develop. AGAIN, Schenn is 22!!!

I am so happy to take a D-man with the 5th. I really would've missed listening to Burke tell us in every interview he does how he's trying to get a 1st line centre for another 4 years. I can't stress to you enough how much that would suck not listening to Burke talk about how he's trying to find a 1st line centre.... For another 4 years. Not sure why some of you are disappointed. This is a zone breakout player, every team wants that momentum changing type of play.

This just gives them another avenue of trading out an existing defenceman to fill another need.
