Maybe I'm missing something here, but can someone please tell me exactly what JvR has done/shown to indicate that he won't be much more than a 50-60 point winger at best?

I know the kid was drafted 2nd overall, but NOTHING I've seen from him has warranted the Flyers supposed asking price of Schenn+. Coupled with his injuries this season, no thanks!

But man, leaf nation. There's a problem with Nash, JVR, Ryan.. There was a problem with Jordan staal. I mean, it's a cap world.. And young stars just don't come walking along. At some point, you've got to make some choices.. And invest. The malkins, and stamkos's.. Dont just hit the market, and of they did, the price wouldn't be reasonable.

It's either that, or stick with the kulemins and macarthurs, and hope they turn the team into a championship squad. At some point, people are going to have to embrace the idea that theres stars available, and they can drastically improve the team, regardless of the supposed downsides

Considering who was still available, it was pretty (frank)ing out there for a team that cant really afford to be gambling with projects.

he has elite potential when it comes to offensive skills, and he has an extremely high hockey IQ, rarely makes mistakes and knows his positioning well.. i was disappointed that we didnt pick a center, but to me Rielly was the best defensemen after Murray, IMO

Not trying to troll, but what has Schenn done, either? Both started out with a lot of promise, and both have failed to progress as much as people thought.

The difference is that power forwards have much more value than defensive D. Any team should be happy to have either player, moving forward.

The difference is that Schenn hasn't has the chance to play under a defensive minded coach like Carlyle.

I expect Schenn to have a bounce back year and thrive under Carlyle.

Only guy id love to see here, is bobby ryan. Nash is overpriced, older, cap is higher, and had his chance to come here but hes a fag. JVR doesnt make us any better if he continues at his rate despite his injuries.

-Didn't even play 50 games
-Spent half his season on the 3rd and 4th line
-Was never really healthy, save the first few games of the season

-3 might as well be a +10
