A lot of the guys on Twitter are worried/saying that nothing is going to happen today. That would be depressing.

As I say that, a trade goes.

Tell that to Bryan Murray in OTT. Apparently working to get a deal together for....Nash.

dreger reporting Bobrovsky to Columbus for picks. Interesting, does this mean Howson does not need a goalie in a Nash trade now?

I beg to differ on the dominate thing. yeah they outshot them like 2-1 in some games but they were nearly all low percentage perimeter shots which were essentially conceded to them.

Why?

No point shooter. A one dimensional perimeter style of play has gone the way of the gooney bird.

- Return of the Roar

i agree with you, no good point shooter. Maybe Seabs. But that has been a problem for the last several years. The last good point shooter, actually was Barker.

Yes - he'll get a tandem. Bishop from OTT is cheap $650K and will be the guy for the future. Or he'll be a great chip for trading with.

If no OTT deal gets done, the Stan should be on the phone NOW to add Bishop to any Hammer deal.

Probably right on the $. Just trying to think of some plan B options after the inevitable failure to land a big fish.
- Ogilthorpe2

Could be a great option for the power play... and at his age... he's gotta be on Stans plan "b" list.

No, I'm not kidding. Ray Whitney and Sergei Federov were good players too, no?

Toews was not a HOF in his rookie year or his second year was he? Last year was Hossa's first full year without injury minus 1 game I believe.

I see your point on Nash but don't underestimate what Kane has done. He's been fantastic and still only 23 years of age.

- TKON

I just don't see the Hawks trading Kane. He's 23, one of two faces to the franchise, and it would be a PR nightmare. I am not a huge PK fan, but he is not the problem on this team.
Problem #1 - Goalie (U just cant let in those 2 weak OT goals in the playoffs, unacceptable)
Problem #2, 3, 4, 5, 6 ,7 - Depth, toughness, Old guys, Q line juggling, PP, PK...............and so on.

Window of Opportunity is closing??? Hawks have one of the youngest teams in hockey with a top 3 farm system how is the window closing? Nash is great player with horrible contract that just doesn't fit with Hawks current roster and salary cap sorry but that is fact.
- DeepThreat

Assuming the current health issues are solved:

Hossa - how many years left at an elite level? Who in the organization replaces him?

Toews - 3 years left on his contract - if the Hawks don't put togeher a winner in that time, what guarantee that he resigns? Who in the organization replaces him?

Kane - same as Toews with the added behavior issues - no guarantee he is here (or effective) in 3 years. Who in the organization replaces him?

Sharp - over 30 - when does his decline star? Who in the organization replaces him?

Those are the only top-6 forwards on the team (in the system?).

Crawford - ?????

Keith - does he still have it in him? Who in the organization replaces him?

Leddy - a proven top-4 defenseman? Not yet.

Oduya - over 30, a 4-5 defenseman.

May have youngest team around, but filled with young wannabes, maybe never-will-bes, certainly not proven top-liners.

Guys, window is closing.

He's definitely not the problem on the team but people like to make him the goat. Old guys is right, not sure why Bowman has a thing for them. This is the year Bowman needs to do something, I gave him a break after we had to break the team up due to the cap. Last year was kind of a redeem himself year. This year he needs to make this team a true contender again. No excuses.

He also needs to make smart moves with salaries as next years UFA group is littered with quality players. Our rookies/2nd year guys should be well developed by then as well. This team should be downright sick for the next few years if Stan plays his cards right.

i think the bobrovsky deal, if it goes through, would have been part of a bigger package with nash if philly was indeed going to get him

they would move together in a bigger multi pick, player deal

It just doesnt seem likely PHI and CBJ would make a trade for bobs and picks

then come back later and deal nash for whoever when a sensible package of all of them could have been put together

I would not discount the excitement that Kane can bring to a smaller market. And many teams I think would strongly consider bringing along the baggage to fill some seats. Obviously, CBJ want to bring in as many assets as possible, however, they can offset some of the talent by putting people in the seats.

If there is one thing I learned from JJ and marketing over the past few years it is this.

Kane would also be a good fit in Anaheim. Perry and Getz big guys.

Panthers, Coyotes other teams that can use his talent and cache'

- TrueGrit

First...I am a PK fan and would like to see nothing more than Kane explode into a scoring stud and the Hawks win a few more cups. But I would bite on the Nash trade. Hawks need a power forward big time and more so with Hossa's age and injury status.

Do the Hawks have the stomach for this type of trade???

I don't think they can land either....Tough to say that cuz money is no object there but I don't see Parise running to Philly and don't see a fit with Nash...

I'm sure the Fly Boy guys will take the other side...

Hi Al!! Hope all is well by you...Have any of your insiders let you in on who the Hawks could possibly select tonight? JJ said he had a hunch it would be Vasilevski, and quite a few of us here would like to see the Hawks draft him, what's your take?
