Probably...didn't we lose in both '71 and '73 ? I HATE LOSING CUP FINALS. '92 left me with an irreparable hernia and i was only 24.
' - philco28
Lost both 71 and 73 to the Habs. 71 was excruciating. Golden Jet was still there. Led series 2-0 and 3-2. Led game 7, 2-0. Dryden was a post away from being down 3-0, then Lemaire ... cuz the old, old man (Arthur, not dollar-Bill) was too cheap to put in AC (think they finally put in the AC in 74 or 75). Yes, the Jacques Lemaire fog goal. I still feel for Tony-O. Just like Billy Buck in the 86 WS or Leon Durham in the 84 NLCS... the pain, oh the pain.
BTW, this next Wed is the 40th anniversary of the Golden Jet telling Arthur Wirtz & Co to go take a hike. |

ESPN ranked 5
Teuvo Teravainen
Shoots: Left
Position: LW
Team: Jokerit (FIN-Jr.) Height: 5-11
Weight: 165 pounds
Teravainen has magical hands and the vision to go along with his vast puck skills. Played some center, and I feel that is a better position for this playmaking forward. He gets knocked down due to lack of strength, but his skills are too exciting to pass up. His overall intensity and determination will improve when he becomes stronger over time. - jimmy33

Thanks BH24...i was 3 and 5 when those two PAINFUL defeats took place. They HURT nevertheless. Why couldn't we BEAT the Habs in at least one of those.

We're also talking ESPN rankings. ESPN doesn't do the best job on hockey.
Really, I think it was a decent pick. Not what I wanted, but the best player available at the time.
I guess we'll see how this kid turns out. |

Saw the cup won in person at the Stadium 3 times, none were the 'Hawks of course. All 3 were painful, but '92 was my worst simply, by being so much older.
I can still remember game 3 in '92... came home and the wife had asked me if I as alright. I just sat at the kitchen table and started to cry like a baby.
They lost game 3, 1-0 on a double deflected shot. No way were they gonna match the '42 Leafs or '75 Isles. Just felt it.
Being a Cubs fan too (the ultimate pain) and now the 'Hawks...3 times at least to the final in my lifetime (born just after the last one in '61), I was wondering if it'd happen for either team while I still had a breath of air in my lungs.
Guess it's why 6/9/10 is so special. I visited my dad's grave a couple days later - after the parade to be exact - and said to him, "one down, one to go Dad".
Now if Theo/Jed & Co can finally lead the Cubs to the promised land, one day, one day in the not too distant future...! |

I can't stand Bowman. But I like this pick. Actually... Bowman has drafted well IMO... The kids is what 17? Who cares how big he is now... I care alot more about what he does about this roster NOW...
Would have been nice to get a blue chip goalie in the systme. But maybe this guy was too good to pass on. |

He's 17 playing in the elite league way before his time. The kid has all the signs of being a stud. I'm not sure I like the idea of him playing in Europe next season though. Maybe some seasoning in Rockford. |

Jesus! A lot of whinging goin on over a bunch of 18 year olds who won't even be in the conversation for 2-3 years. Plenty of other ways to get size or goalies. Could start by making a package for Pavelec and pairing a few of Walsh's clients together. (frank)in bumhole. |

I bet he plays this season in Finland, comes to the states next year, plays half a season in rockford, then is called up. By the way, this kid is patty kane 2.0, which is a good thing despite the amount of derision directed towards kane on this board (myself included). |

SB isn't getting canned anytime soon. Q gets axed first and he wasn't a Bowman hire. It'll be a minimum 3 years before any firing talk happens. Then all he has to do is point out during his tenure that he was saddled with the cap mess, a coach that was deficient, the salary dump trades netted good players like Morin and high draft picks, and lastly his drafts thus far have been some of the best in the league giving us a top 5 system loaded with prospects.
That buys probably another 2 years, so about 5 years all total. But once Q is gone the team will be playing elite hockey again. |

I really like Q's puck possession style, but the line juggling has to stop. Anyone who has ever played knows how important chemistry and dependability are when you're on the ice and the hawks simply don't have it. I think its a major problem, especially for the top forwards |

NOT a fan of this pick.
And I dont care if the guy fell to us. He fell for a reason. He was the smallest guy taken in the first round.
Unless Rocky knows that the league is going to start calling games drastically different, I don't get this. |
