Vasilevski is (a) closer to NHL ready, and (b) fills an organizational need - in a system that has very few - if any - NHL goalie prospects - INCLUDING at the parent team.

He also may fulfill his commitment in Russia for another two years. You draft talent over need and this kid has top five talent. Can't pass on that.

What other smurfs has he drafted. Krueger was a second rounder but hes drafted a lot of size and grit the last couple years.

But and it is a big but...If Ruutu would not have suffered so many bad injuries he would have been at least a top 2nd line player for sure.

Agree and liked him during his time as a Hawk. Wasn't happy when they traded him for Ladd but that didn't last too long. Still the one guy I wish we could have held onto from the Cup team.

Teuvanien is a skilled winger and not a 3rd line center in my opinion. I have two draft guides in front of me and hes listed as LW. Think Teemu Selanne minus the hall of fame talent.
